(1) If you removed it, install the gimbal assembly [12] on the ballscrew nut [22]:
(a) Apply grease, D00633 to the inside and outside mating surfaces of the gimbal bushings [8].

(b) Apply grease, D00633 to the outside surfaces of the gimbal bushings [8].

(c) Put the gimbal assembly [12] in its location on the ballscrew nut [22].

(d) Install the gimbal bushings [8] through the gimbal assembly [12] on the ballscrew nut [22].
(e) Install the bolts [13], washers [6] and collars [7] that attach the gimbal bushings [8] to the
gimbal assembly [12].

(2) Connect the ballscrew assembly [1] to the yoke [17] on the transmission [15]:
(a) Turn the ballscrew nut [22] until it is at the forward end of the ballscrew assembly [1].
(b) Apply a layer of grease, D00633 to the mating surfaces of the yoke [17] and the ballscrew
assembly [1].
(c) Put the ballscrew assembly [1] into the yoke [17].
(d) Apply a layer of grease, D00633 to the shank and threads of the bolts [18].
(e) Install the bolts [18], washers [19], washers [20] and nuts [21] to attach the ballscrew
assembly [1] to the yoke [17].
(f) Make sure the ballscrew assembly [1] is installed correctly in the yoke [17]:
1) Turn the transmission [15] until the nut [24] on the U-joint [16] is up.
2) Turn the ballscrew nut [22] until the upstop is 1808 from the upstop [23] on the yoke [17].
3) If the ball returns [5] on the ballscrew nut [22] are not in the correct position, then
change the position of the ballscrew assembly [1]:
NOTE: On transmission No. 3, make sure the ball returns [5] on the ballscrew nut [22]
are on the outboard side. On transmission No. 6, make sure the ball returns [5]
on the ballscrew nut [22] are on the inboard side.
a) Remove the nuts [21], washers [20], washers [19] and bolts [18] that attach the
ballscrew assembly [1] to the yoke [17].
b) Turn the ballscrew assembly [1] 1808 in the yoke [17].
c) Install the bolts [18], washers [19], washers [20] and nuts [21].
(g) Tighten the nuts [21].

(3) Connect the ballscrew assembly [1] with the gimbal assembly [12] to the carriage [3]:
(a) Move the gimbal assembly [12] to the downstop on the ballscrew assembly [1].
NOTE: On transmission No. 3, make sure the ball returns [5] on the ballscrew nut [22] are
on the outboard side. On transmission No. 6, make sure the ball returns [5] on the
ballscrew nut [22] are on the inboard side.
(b) Move the carriage [3] to align with the gimbal assembly [12].
(c) Apply grease, D00633 to the inside and outside surfaces of the carriage bushing [4] and
carriage bushing [11].

(d) Apply grease, D00633 to the outside surfaces of the carriage bushing [4] and carriage
bushing [11].

(e) Install the carriage bushing [4] and carriage bushing [11] to attach the gimbal assembly [12]
to the carriage [3].
(f) Install the bolts [2], washers [10] and nuts [9] that attach the carriage bushing [4] and
carriage bushing [11] to the carriage [3].
