CAUTION: MAKE SURE TO INSTALL THE WASHER AGAINST THE SHOULDER
_______ OF THE AXLE. FAILURE TO PUT THE WASHER AGAINST THE SHOULDER OF THE AXLE CAN CAUSE AXLE THREAD DAMAGE WHEN YOU TIGHTEN THE NUT, AND THE WHEEL CAN BECOME LOOSE.
 1)  Before you tighten the axle nut (6), make sure the washer (5) is on the shoulder of the axle.
 NOTE: To do this, make sure that the outer edge of the
____ washer (5) is adjacent to the axle nut (6) on all sides. Make sure to engage the tang of the washer in the groove in the axle.
 2)  While turning wheel (1), tighten the axle nut (6) to
 450-525 pound-feet. 3) Stop the wheel. 4) Loosen the axle nut to 10-100 pound-feet. 5) While turning the wheel (1), tighten the axle nut (6) to
 150-250 pound-feet.
 NOTE: If the hole, for the lockbolt (10), and the slot in
____ the axle nut (6) do not align, continue to tighten the axle nut (6) to align the slot in the nut with the nearest hole. Do not tighten the axle nut (6) more than 250 pound-feet.
 (l)  Install the guide block (10) and the lockbolts (11) with the washers (9) and the nuts (8) and tighten to 75-85 pound-inches.

Make sure to inflate the tire to the correct pressure (AMM 12-15-06/301).

Lower the axle until the weight of the airplane is on the wheels (AMM 07-11-03/201).

Install the hubcap assembly (13) as follows:

 (a)  
Install the alignment shaft (14) in the hubcap (13) with the bolts (15) and washers (16) and install a lockwire.

 (b)  Put the hubcap (13) into its position on the wheel (1) and turn it until the index pin falls into the hole in the wheel (1).
 NOTE:____ If you cannot get the holes in the hubcap (13) to align with the holes in the wheel (1), make sure the correct bearing is installed in the outboard half of the wheel (1). Do all of the above steps again, when it is necessary, to do this.
 (5)  S 094-041Remove the lock assembly from the nose gear steering.
 (6)  S 094-084Do this task: "Removal of the Door Locks on the Nose Landing Gear" (AMM 32-00-30/201).
 (7)  S 094-091Remove the landing gear ground locks (AMM 09-11-00/201).

 WHEELS - INSPECTION/CHECK

 1.  General_______
 A.  This procedure contains steps for the inspection of landing gear wheels. The wheels can be examined for damage while installed on the airplane. To do a full inspection, the wheel must be removed from the axle.
 B.  Make sure to discard wheel that shows signs of damage due to operation without a tire for one full revolution or more. This will prevent wheel failures during operation.
