by performance Class 1 hehcopters, the defined area
includes the rejected take-off area available.
Flight crew member. A licensed crew member charged with
duties essential to the operation of an aircraft during a flight
duty period.
Plight duty period. The total time from the moment a flight
crcw member commences duty, inmediately subsequent to
a rest period and prior to malung a flight or a series of
flights, to the moment thc flight crew member is relieved of
all duties having coinpletcd such flight or series of flights.
Flight manual. A manual, associated with the certificate of
airworthiness, containing limitations within which the
aircraft is to be coilsidered airworthy, and instructions and

Flight plan. Specified information provided to air kaffic
services units, relative to an intended tlight or portion of a
flight of an aircraft.
Flight recorder. Any type of recorder installed in the aircrart
for the purpose of complementing accident/incidcnt
investigation.
Flight sqfety documents system. A set of inter-related
documentation established by the operator, compiIing and
organizing information necessary for flight and ground
operations, and comprising, as a minimnm, the operations
manual and thc operators's maintenance control. manual.
Flight time - helicopters. The total time from the moment a
helicopter's rotor blades star1 turning until thc moment the
helicopter finally comes to rest at tl1c end of the fl~ghta, nd
the rotor blades are stopped.
Generul aviation operation. Au arcraft operation 0 t h than a
coinmercial alr transport operation or an aerial work
operation.
Ground handling. Scrviccs necessary for an aircralt's arrival
at, and dcpa-&urcfr om, an airport. other than air h~ffic
services.
fIelzcopter. A heavier-than-air aircraft supported in fight
chiefly by the reactions of the air on one or rnore powerclriven
rotors on substantially vertical axes.
HclidcrE;. A heliport located on a fluating or rixed off-shore
s!nrctl~re.
Heliport. An aerodrome or a defined area on a strucLure
intendzd to be used wholly or in part for the arrival,
depxturc and surface movement of helicopters.
Heliport operating minima. The limits of usability of n
heliport for:
a) take-off, expressed in terms of runway visual range
andtor visibility and, if necessary, cloud conditions:
b) landing in precision approach and la~~dinogp erations,
expressed in terms of visibility and/or runway visual
range and decjsio~l altitude!height ( D M ) as appropriate

human and other system components by proper

Human psrjbrmance. Human capabilities and limitations
which have an impact on thc safety and efficiency of
aeronautical operations.
I~rstrument meteorolgqical conditions (IMC). Meteorological
conditions expressed in ternls of visib~lity, distance from
cloud, and ceiling4, less th<m the rmnima specified for
visuaj meleorological conditions.
