Section I, Chapter 1 Annex 6 - Operation of Aircrafl
Per-ormnce Class 2 helicopter. A helicopter with
performance such that, in case of critical power-unit failure,
it is able to safely continilc thc flight, except when the
failure occurs prior to a defined point after take-oft or after
a defined point before landing, in which cases a forced
landing may bc required.
Performance Class 3 helicopter. A helicopter with
performance such that, in case of power-unit failure at any
point in the flight profile, a forced landing must be
performed.
Pilot-in-command The pilot designated by the operator, or in
the. case of general aviation, the owner, as being in
command and charged with the safe conduct of a flight.
Psychoactive substances. Alcohol, opioids, cannabinoids,
sedatives and hypnotics, cocaine, other psychostimulants,
hallucinogens, and volatile solvents, whereas coffee and
tobacco are excluded.
Repair: The restoration of an aeronautical product to an
airwortlly condition to ensure that the aircraft continues to
comply with the design aspects of the appropriate
airworthiness requirements used for the issuance of the type
certificate for the respective aircraft type, after it has been
darnagcd or subjected to wear.
Required navigation per+formance (RNP). A statement of the
navigation performance necessary for operabon with111 a
defined airspace.
Nore - Nu~.igurion perfarmance and reglilrements are
defined for a parriculul- RNP l y e and/nr appl~cution.
Rest period. Any period of time on the ground during which a
flight crew member is relieved of all dutics by the operator.
RNZ' type. A coi~tainmerlt value expressed as a distance in
nautical milcs from the intended position within wl~ich
Bights nrould bc for at least 95 per cent of the Lotal flying
time.
Example.- RhT 4 represents a navigation accuracy of
plus or minus 7.4 knl (1 hM) or] a 95 per cent containment
basis.
Runway ~~i~rrraanlg e (RI'R). The range over which the pilot
of an aircraft on tllr cenLTe line of a runway can see the
nlnway surface markings or the lights delineating the
runway or identifying its centre line.
SaJe ,forced landing. Unavoidahlc landing or ditching with a
reasonable expectancy of no injuries to persons in the
aircraft or on rbe surface.

State of the Operator. The State in whch the operator's
principal place of business is located or, if there is no such
place of business, the operator's permanent residence.
Synthetic .flight trainer. Any one of the following three types
of apparatus in whch flight conditions arc sinlulated on the
ground:
A flight simulator, which provldes an accuratc representation
of the flight deck of a partrcula* arcraft typc to
the extent that Lhe mechanical, electrical, electron~cc. tc.
aircraft systems control functions, the normal environmcut
of t-light crew members, and the performar~ce and
flight chnracter~sfics of that type of aircrafl are
realist~cally simulated;
ilj'ighr procedures rminer, which provides a realistic flight
deck environment. and which sirnulales instn~nlent
responses, simple conlrol functions of mechanical,
electrical, electronic, ek. aircraft systems, and the
perfomance and flight characteristics of aircraft of a
particular class;
