4. Fault Isolation
_______________
R A. The ECAM warning is triggered if the low oil pressure switch output
R indicates an oil pressure lower than 13 PSI while the engine speed is
R above idle.
R (1) If actual low oil pressure is confirmed by the crew report (oil
R pressure indication flashing green on lower ECAM):
R - do an inspection (Ref. AMM TASK 72-00-00-200-008) after the engine
R has exceeded the operational limits.
R (a) If the engine is still operable:
R - do the following checks:
R 1_ Do a check for external oil leak and oil dripping from the
R drain mast (Ref. AMM TASK 71-00-00-790-002).
R 2_ Do a check for heavy oil discharge from the center vent tube
R through the flame arrestor into the center body.
R a_ If an excessive oil discharge from the center vent is
R confirmed and the oil consumption is also excessive:
R - do the trouble shooting as per TSM entry: ATA79 HIGH OIL
R CONSUMPTION.
R 3_ Do a check of the lubrication unit magnetic plugs and screens
R (Ref. AMM TASK 79-00-00-281-002).
R a_ If nothing is found:
R - remove the AGB drain plug,
R - do a check for abnormal oil quantity.
R b_ If there is more than one quart of oil in the AGB:
R - do a check for oil scavenge line blockage.
R c_ If the AGB oil scavenge line is found blocked:
R - clean or repair as required.
R d_ If the AGB oil scavenge line is not found blocked:
R - do a check for obstruction of the aft sump flame arrestor
R (Ref. AMM TASK 72-56-00-210-002).
R e_ If obstruction of the grid is greater than 50%:
R - replace the flame arrestor (Ref. AMM TASK 72-56-00-000-R 001) and (Ref. AMM TASK 72-56-00-400-001).
R f_ If nothing is found on flame arrestor:
R - check the oil tank strainer for blockage.
R g_ If the strainer is blocked:
R - replace the oil tank (Ref. AMM TASK 79-11-10-000-005) and
R (Ref. AMM TASK 79-11-10-400-005).

R h_ If nothing is found in the strainer:
R - replace the lubrication unit (Ref. AMM TASK 79-21-10-000-
R 004) and (Ref. AMM TASK 79-21-10-400-004).
R (2) If actual low oil pressure is not confirmed (indicating system
R failure):
R - replace the SW-LOW OIL PRESS (4000EN) (Ref. AMM TASK 79-34-15-000-
R 041) and (Ref. AMM TASK 79-34-15-400-041).
R - do a check of the wiring between the low oil pressure switch
R (4000EN) and the EIU-1 (1KS1) pin AA/7A (Ref. ASM 79-36/01) for
R short to ground,
R - repair, clean or replace wiring or connectors as required.
R (a) If the fault continues:
R - replace the EIU-1 (1KS1) (Ref. AMM TASK 73-25-34-000-040) and
R (Ref. AMM TASK 73-25-34-400-040).
R
B. Do a minimun idle check (Ref. AMM TASK 71-00-00-710-006).
(1) No additional maintenance action is required if the fault is not
confirmed.
(2) Repeat the fault isolation procedure if the fault continues.
