Aileron and Flaperon Schedules

The PFCs receive roll control command signals from the wheel position transducers. The aileron and flaperon fixed schedules determine the aileron and flaperon input commands. These schedules supply a fixed and linear relationship between the control wheel command and the aileron and flaperon command. The PFCs invert the commands for the left wing in relation to the commands for the right wing.
Aileron Lockout

The PFCs calculate the aileron commands based on the flaps and slats retracted discrete signal from the ACEs. When the flaps and slats are not retracted, the aileron input commands from the fixed schedule go directly to the ACEs. When the flaps and slats are retracted, the PFCs send a zero position command which fairs the ailerons.
When the flaps and slats are retracted, the PFCs also send a lockout command to the blocking solenoid of the aileron PCUs. When the flaps and slats are not retracted, the PFCs send an unlock command signal to the blocking solenoid of the aileron PCUs.
Flaperon Droop
The PFCs sum the flaperon input commands with the flaperon droop constant. When the flaps and slats are not retracted, the flaperon droop constant causes the flaperons to droop.
Flaperon Force Fight Equalization
The PFCs use flaperon PCU differential pressure data from the ACEs to adjust the flaperon PCU commands before transmission to the ACEs and the EHSV of each flaperon PCU. This function minimizes flaperon PCU force fight.

AILERON AND FLAPERON CONTROL -FUNCTIONAL DESCRIPTION -DIRECT MODE

General

In direct mode operation of the PFCS, the ACEs calculate roll control commands based on these inputs:

Aileron fixed schedule

Flaperon fixed schedule

Flaperon droop constant

*
Failure monitor.


Aileron and Flaperon Roll Commands

The ACEs receive roll command signals from the wheel position transducers. The aileron and flaperon fixed schedules determine the aileron and flaperon input commands. These schedules supply a linear relationship between the control wheel command and the aileron and flaperon command. The ACEs invert the commands for the left wing in relation to the commands for the right wing.
The ACEs calculate the aileron commands based on the flaps and slats retracted discrete signal from the FSEUs. When the flaps and slats are retracted, the aileron fixed schedule selects zero value commands. This causes the ailerons to fair to the wing surface and to lock out.
The ACEs sum the flaperon input commands with the flaperon droop constant. When the flaps and slats are not retracted, the flaperon droop constant causes the flaperons to droop.
The aileron and flaperon commands then go directly to the EHSV of each aileron and flaperon PCU.
If there are any PFCs functional and signals can get to the ACEs, the PFCs control the command signals for the blocking solenoid of the aileron PCUs. When the flaps and slats are retracted, the PFC secondary mode logic sends a command signal to the ACEs. The ACEs then de-energize the blocking solenoid of the aileron PCUs. When the flaps and slats are not retracted, the PFC secondary mode logic sends command signals to the ACEs to energize the blocking solenoid of the PCUs.
Failure Monitor
When it finds a failure with the PCU, the PCU wiring or the ACE control loop, the failure monitor sends a signal to the bypass valve of the appropriate PCU.
The failure monitor operates in all three modes, normal, secondary and direct. The failure monitor can also find faults in the ACE, the wheel position and force transducers, and interface wiring.

AILERON AND FLAPERON CONTROL -AILERON AND FLAPERON DROOP

Purpose

The ailerons and flaperons of both wings move down (droop) to help the high lift system when the flaps are extended. When drooped, the ailerons and flaperons still operate for roll control.
Functional Description

The PFCs and the ACEs command the ailerons and flaperons to droop based on the flap position.
