SPOILER AND SPEEDBRAKE CONTROL -FUNCTIONAL DESCRIPTION -SECONDARY MODE

General

In secondary mode operation of the PFCS, the PFCs calculate roll and speedbrake control commands for the electrically-controlled spoilers based on this data:

Secondary roll spoiler schedule

*
Secondary speedbrake spoiler schedule

*
Spoiler lockout.

 

The PFCs do not control spoilers 4 and 11 in the secondary mode. These spoilers only receive roll commands from the cable-controlled system.
Secondary Roll Spoiler Schedule

The PFCs receive roll control command signals from the wheel position transducers. The secondary roll spoiler schedule determines the spoiler roll commands for all spoilers except 4 and 11. This schedule supplies a fixed, nonlinear relationship between the control wheel command and the spoiler commands. The PFCs invert the commands for the left wing in relation to the commands for the right wing.
During roll control in flight and on the ground, the PFCs command the inboard spoilers to a maximum of 20 degrees and the outboard spoilers to a maximum of 45 degrees, except spoilers 5 and 10. Spoilers 5 and 10 do not operate for roll control in secondary mode.
The cable-controlled system and linkages supply fixed, roll schedules for spoilers 4 and 11.
Secondary Speedbrake Spoiler Schedule
The PFCs receive speedbrake command signals from the speedbrake lever position transducer. The secondary speedbrake spoiler schedule determines the spoiler speedbrake commands for all spoilers except 4, 5, 10, and 11.
During speedbrake control in flight and on the ground, the PFCs command the inboard spoilers to a maximum of 20 degrees and the outboard spoilers to a maximum of 45 degrees, except for spoilers 4, 5, 10, and 11. Spoilers 4, 5, 10, and 11 do not operate as speedbrakes in secondary mode.
Combined Spoiler Commands
The PFCs combine the speedbrake and roll commands to calculate the inboard and outboard spoiler commands for the electrically-controlled spoilers.
Spoiler Lockout
Spoilers 5 and 10 are locked out at all times during roll and speedbrake commands in secondary mode of the PFCS.

General

In the direct mode operation of the PFCS, the ACEs calculate roll and speedbrake commands for the electrically-controlled spoilers based on these inputs:
