[1] The autothrottle (A/T) provides automatic control of engine thrust from takeoff to touchdown, thus, reducing pilot workload. The autothrottle is a computer-controlled electromechanical system which controls engine thrust within engine design parameters. Throttle position for each engine is controlled to maintain a specific engine thrust (N1) ,or a target airspeed, for all flight regimes. It is designed to operate primarily in conjunction with DFCS (Digital Flight Control System ) and the FMCS (Flight Management Computer System), interfacing also takes place with the IRS and several other systems and components.
