CAUTION: DO NOT APPLY THE PARKING BRAKE WHEN THE BRAKES ARE
OVER-HEATED. THE BRAKES CAN SEIZE ON.
(5) Set the parking brake ON. Pull the Knob fully aft. And push the
brake pedals.
(6) Put chocks in front of and behind the main wheels.
(7) Set the parking brake OFF. Push the knob fully forward.
(8) Set the controls to neutral. Install the control lock.
(9) Set the flaps to CRUISE. Fully up.
(10) Close and lock the canopy.
C. Long-Term Parking
If the airplane is parked for a long time, the wheel bearings can corrode. Also, the tires can
deform. Do this procedure to prevent these problems.
Detail Steps/Work Items Key Items
(1) Do the procedure for short-term parking. Para B.
(2) If the airplane can be moved, remove the chocks.
Move the airplane to turn the wheels 3 or 4
revolutions. Put the chocks back.
If the airplane is on jacks, turn each wheel 3 or 4
revolutions by hand.
You can push or tow the airplane.
Make sure that a different part of the tire
touches the ground when you stop.
Note: Do item 2 daily in cold weather . Do it weekly in warm weather.
(3) If the airplane can be flown, do the procedure for
Flyable Storage for the engine.

Manual for the Continental IO-240-B.
(4) If the airplane cannot be flown, do the procedure for
Temporary Storage for the engine.

3. Storage
If the airplane must be parked (or not operated) for more than 30 days, you must do this storage
procedure.

(1) If possible, ventilate the airplane in a dry
atmosphere.
(2) Do the procedure for long-term parking. Para 2
(3) Remove the airplane battery. Refer to Chapter 24-31
(4) If the airplane will be stored for up to 90 days, do
the procedure for Temporary Storage for the
engine.
Refer to the Operator and Installation
Manual for the Continental IO-240-B.
(5) If the airplane will be stored for more than 90 days,
do the procedure for Indefinite Storage for the
engine.
Refer to the Operator and Installation
Manual for the Continental IO-240-B.
(6) Fill the fuel tank completely.
(7) Wipe the tires with a dry cloth. Apply tire protector
spray.
(8) Lubricate the airplane. Chapter 12-20
(9) Remove loose equipment from the airplane.

C. Weekly Routine Check
Do these items each week while the airplane is stored.

(1) Do a test for water contamination of the fuel tank. Chapter 12-10
(2) If the airplane can be moved, move it to turn the
wheels 3 or 4 revolutions.
If the airplane is on jacks, turn each wheels 3 or 4
revolutions by hand.
You can push or tow the airplane.
Make sure that a different part of the tire
touches the ground. Mark the position
and date on the tire with chalk.
Note: Do item 2 daily in cold weather . Do it weekly in warm weather.
(3) Do a test for the correct air pressure in each tire. If
necessary, inflate the tires.

CHAPTER 10-20
MOORING
1. General
If the airplane must be left outside for a long time, you must moor it. Strong winds or gusts can
cause damage to an airplane that is not moored.
2. Mooring
Figure 1 shows the location of the mooring points on the airplane. There are 3 mooring points:
One below each wing. One on the skid plate at the tail.

(1) Park the airplane. Chapter 10-10
(2) Make sure that the flaps are set to CRUISE. Fully up.
CAUTION: MOOR THE AIRPLANE AT THE MOORING POINTS ONLY.
CAUTION: WHEN USING HEMP ROPES, DO NOT MAKE THEM TIGHT. IF THE
ROPES GET WET THEY WILL TIGHTEN AND DAMAGE THE
AIRPLANE. THIS IS MOST IMPORTANT WHEN YOU USE SECURE
