11) Remove nuts (6), lockwashers (7) and washers (8).
12) Clear evaporator (5) from inspection door 246 (10), disconnect the air hose and the drain hose.
13) Remove evaporator (5) and blank off.
14) If necessary, remove thermostatic expansion valve (21).
a) Remove the insulating sleeve from the outlet end of evaporator (5), remove the protection then cut off and discard the tie-wrap.
b) Clear capillary bulb (26).
c) Push the insulating sleeve on the inlet end of evaporator (5), firmly hold the valve and unscrew inlet union (28).
d) Remove thermostatic expansion valve (21), inspect the 0-ring for condition, replace if necessary and blank off.
15) If installed and if necessary, remove S86 thermostat (30).
a) Remove sealant bead (25) around the box of evaporator (5).
b) If thermostatic expansion valve (21) has not been removed, perform the following operations
1 Remove the insulating sleeves from the inlet and outlet ends of evaporator (5).
2 Perfom operations 14) a) and b).
c) Remove the sealant between the inlet and outlet ends and the box.
d) Remove nuts (22), lockwashers (23) and washers (24), then separate both parts of the box.
e) Cut off and discard the tie-wraps holding capillary bulb (29) wound inside the box.
f) Clear the bulb from the fins of evaporator (5) then unwind the bulb.
g) Remove both screws securing thermostat (30) to its support, clean them.
h) Clear the thermostat from its support and pass capillary bulb (29) through the box.
i) Discard thermostat (30).
j) Remove any sealant residues between both parts of the box. C. Installation of the evaporator
1) Inspect evaporator (5), capillary bulb (26) of the thermostatic expansion valve and capillary bulb of thermostat (30) (if installed) for shock marks and deformation.
2) Inspect the fins for cleanliness, vacuum-clean any particles if necessary.
3) If thermostat (30) has been removed, perform the following operations
a) Check for setting - refer to Paragraph 3.
b) Unwind capillary bulb (29) and route it through the box.
c) Wind it around itself inside the box and secure it with new tie-wraps.
d) Insert the end of capillary bulb (29) between the fins of evaporator (5).
e) Close the box and install washers (24), lockwashers (23) and nuts (22).
 
f) Make a sealant bead (25) with sealant (TB 09-909).
g) Ensure tightness between the box and inlet and outlet ends of evaporator (5) with sealant (TB 09-909) or (TB 09-904).
h) If thermostatic expansion valve (21) has not been removed, perform the following operations
1 Position capillary bulb (26) on the outlet end and secure it with a new tie-wrap.
2 Install the protection and the insulating sleeve.
 i) Install the insulating sleeve on the inlet end.
D Position thermostat (30) on its support and secure it with the screws coated with Loctite (TB 08-013C).
