Q. Why does RAAS provide an On Taxiway advisory on some runways?
A. The runway is not yet in the RAAS database, Crews are always
required to use conventional means to ascertain and confirm position
of runways.
Q. Why doesn’t RAAS always provide an approaching runway advisory
when I am at the hold-short line?
A. The Advisory is always provided at a fixed distance from the
runway edge at groundspeeds below 10 knots, and in some cases
the hold-short lines are not painted at positions that correspond
to ICAO standards. RAAS does not have knowledge of ground
markings.
