Finally, the procedure is also revised to recommend setting the altitude preselector to touchdown
zone elevation so that vertical guidance is available for the entire approach. On page 1-4, item L,
the reference to the need for the flight crew to make a correction to published approach altitudes
during extreme cold temperature operations has been deleted. This is based on the fact that the
approaches in question always have a minimum temperature allowable for the approach printed
on the approach plate.
Both GIV-SP and Non-SP GIV Appendix E, Adverse Weather/Abnormal Atmospheric
Conditions, were updated to reflect the latest guidance from the FAA regarding cold weather
operations and operations in icing conditions. Operators will note that divider pages are placed in
front of each type of airplane’s revised pages to distinguish GIV-SP pages from Non-SP GIV
pages. Operators are advised to exercise care when updating their AFM to ensure pages are not
co-mingled. Operators need not carry the revised pages that do not apply to their airplane type.
The remainder of the revision contains minor changes and cleanup as a result of input from the
training providers and GIV operators.

This letter introduces Revision 27 to the GIV AFM. The majority of the changes are selfexplanatory
but a few need some explanation.
On page 1-4, item L, the reference to the need for the flight crew to make a correction to
published approach altitudes during extreme cold temperature operations was deleted. This is
based on the fact that the approaches in question always have a minimum temperature allowable
for the approach printed on the approach plate. Additionally, in Section 2 we are adding a new
procedure for Cold Weather Altimeter Setting Procedures.
On page 1-41 we’ve added the statement that the EGPWS installation in the airplane meets the
requirements of a Class A TAWS installation.
New messages have been added in Sections 3A and 3B to reflect new messages incorporated as
part of the GIV Rollback Program.
The remainder of the revision contains minor changes and cleanup as a result of input from the
training providers and GIV operators.

Subject: GIV AFM Revision 26 dated 31 May 2001
This letter introduces Revision 26 to the GIV AFM. The primary purpose of this revision is to
delete the limitation calling for the thrust reverser check prior to every flight. The Normal
Checklist does call out a thrust reverser check prior to the first flight of the day and a check of the
reverser lights prior to every flight. These checks are recommended by Gulfstream. However, as
noted in the Preface to the AFM, operators are only required to adhere to the limitations in
Section 1 and are free to develop their own Normal, Abnormal and Emergency procedures.
This revision also adds a procedure for thrust reverser unlock on the ground while taxiing with
the caution statement added to not exercise the thrust reverser in an attempt to stow the reverser
but to return for maintenance action prior to flight.
Also included in Revision 26 is the re-issue of Performance (non-SP) and Appendix A through E
(non-SP). Appendix A FLEX EPR Performance, for SP and non-SP has been revised for
balanced field length to reflect a V1/VR ratio in place of the previous version which reflected
V1=VR.
