R  - Strip the wire to the applicable length. 
R  - Open the crimping jaws by squeezing the tool handles together until 
R  the CERTI-CRIMP ratchet releases.
R  ____NOTE : The tool handles cannot be opened until they are fully closed. 
R  - Position the terminal in the crimping jaws, making sure that the 
R  edge of the wire barrel sleeve rests against the locator. 
R  - Squeeze the handles enough to firmly hold terminal in place, but 
R  not enough to cause terminal barrel to be deformed. 
R  - Insert the stripped wire through insulation barrel sleeve and into 
R  the wire barrel sleeve until it is flush with the outer edge of the 
R  sleeve. 
R  - Squeeze the tool handles fully until CERTI-CRIMP ratchet releases. 
R  - Remove the crimped terminal from the crimping jaws. 
R  C. Insulation crimping adjustment 
R  Insulation crimping is adjustable by means of two pins inserted on holes 
R  numered: 
R  1 = tight 
R  2 = medium 
R  3 = loose

R  To obtain the correct insulation grip: 
R  - Insert pins into position 3. 
R  - Position terminal in crimping jaws as described in crimping procedure. 
R  - Insert an unstripped wire into only the insulation barrel sleeve of the 
R  terminal. 
R  - Perform a test crimp as described in crimping procedure. 
R  - Remove the crimped terminal and check the insulation support. 
R  - If necessary, adjust pins and perform another test crimp until the 
R  correct insulation grip is obtained.

R  (1) Example: splice crimping 
R  - Strip the wires according to the directions listed in the 
R  applicable chapter. 
R  - Make sure that the insulation sleeve is on the wire before 
R  stripping or crimping. 
R  - Use the applicable crimping tool related to the reference number of 
R  the splice. 
R  - Open the crimping jaws by squeezing the tool handles together until 
R  the CERTI-CRIMP ratchet releases. 
R  - For barrel type 1: 
R  - Place the splice in the crimping tool die. The end to be crimped 
R  rests against the stop of the crimping tool. 
R  - For barrel type 2: 
R  - Place one half of splice in splice barrel crimping nest, as shown 
R  (Ref. Fig. 013) 
R  Note that barrel rests against stop. 
R  - Squeeze the handles enough to firmly hold splice in place, but not 
R  too much to cause splice barrel to be deformed. 
R  - For barrel type 1: 
R  - Insert properly stripped wire into splice barrel by the stop 
R  side. 
R  - For barrel type 2: 
R  - Insert properly stripped wire into splice barrel through the 
R  crimping die. 
R  - Crimp one half of splice by squeezing tool handles together until 
R  CERTI-CRIMP ratchet releases. Allow tool handles to open FULLY.
