The one page HOLD mode displays speed, endurance time and EPR for holding current altitude for minimum fuel use in race track pattern, based on current altitude and gross weight.

The CON mode displays continuous EPR limit and engine out speed schedules. Target airspeed and EPR limit values drive the command bugs when CON is engaged. Page 1-3, ENG OUT MAX, displays speed guidance to maximize altitude capability and sustainable flight level with one engine inoperative. Speed guidance data maximizes horizontal descent distance for an engine failure above the maximum maintainable altitude and maximizes climb angle for an engine failure below the maximum maintainable altitude. When the airplane nears maximum maintainable altitude the speed guidance data maximizes altitude capability. Distance and time to enter, within 300 feet of flight level, are also displayed. Page 2-3, ENG OUT LRC, is identical to page 1-3, except flight levels are maximized for long range cruise speeds. Page 3-3, LIMIT, displays maximum continuous thrust EPR limits.

The one page go-around (GA) mode displays the go-around EPR limit for existing altitude, temperature and speed. Reference speed (V REF) is also displayed for up to three landing flap settings based upon the airplane gross weight.

In the one page TURB mode, the CDU displays turbulent air penetration speed, pitch attitude necessary to maintain altitude at present penetration speed and engine N1 (%) speeds. The EPR and mach/airspeed command bugs are automatically engaged, with the EPR bugs at the EPR limit with the A/T armed (GJ B-2509 and B-2510) and at the target EPR for N1 with the A/T OFF (GJ ALL EXCEPT B-2509 and B-2510). The EPR bugs drive to values corresponding to the displayed N1 speeds. Depressing the ENGAGE or TURB key in the TURB mode disengages this mode and the PDC system reverts to the previously engaged or selected flight mode. The TURB mode may be selected only from the CRZ mode.

B.  Performance functions display data used to investigate various flight modes and are accessed by the keyboard switches. Performance functions cannot be engaged to drive the AFCS, mach/airspeed or EPR command bugs.
(1)  
The LOAD function is used for data entry, enabling the system to compute take-off EPR, gross weight, optimum descent point and fuel reserves. Outside air temperature, destination elevation, reserves and alternate fuel, and zero fuel weight are entered on page 1-2. Flight index number, flight level restriction, and velocity restriction are entered on page 2-2. Temperature entered in centigrade updates the Fahrenheit entry or the Fahrenheit entry updates the centigrade entry. If data outside established limits is entered, an error message is generated. Page 1-2 parameters reset to question marks if power is removed for longer than 10 seconds or three minutes after the airspeed drops below 60 knots after landing. The time is reset if the speed goes above 60 knots or EPR rises above 1.5. Page 2-2 parameters reset to question marks if power is removed for longer than 10 seconds. Load may be accessed with any flight mode selected or engaged.

The FLIGHT LEVEL INTERCEPT ↓ X ↑ functions permit computation of time and distance to reach a desired higher or lower altitude. The displays will request the "go to altitude", distance to altitude intercept and time to intercept. The altitude, distance and time are interdependent, clearing one value will clear the others. Page 1-5, X ↑ ECON, displays data for an economy climb. Page 2-5, X ↑ RATE, displays data for a maximum rate of climb. Page 3-5, X ↑ MANUAL, displays data for climb with a manually selected airspeed. Page 4-5, X ↓ ECON, displays data for an economy descent. Page 5-5, X ↓ MANUAL, displays data for descent with a manually selected airspeed.

NOTE:  For FLIGHT LEVEL INTERCEPT, FLIGHT LEVEL, RANGE, FUEL, and TRIP functions, entered parameters will only be accepted if the calculated buffet margin remains above 1.3g. An INVALID message will be displayed along with the out of limits parameter should the buffet margin limit be less than 1.3g.

The flight level (FL)functions provide the optimum altitude, maximum altitude, and flight levels with the corresponding buffet margins. The wind trade (. WIND) displayed is the difference between wind components at entered flight level and present altitude that would achieve equal fuel economy. Page 1-3, FL ECON, gives the flight level information for an economy speed schedule. Page 2-3, FL LRC, gives the flight level information for a long range cruise speed schedule. Page 3-3, FL MANUAL, gives flight level information for a manually entered speed scheduled.
