(j) Sand the bonded plastic surface with finer grits of moist or dry abrasive papers to get the necessary finish.
NOTE:____ The abrasive papers that you can use are (280, 320, 400 and 600).
(k) Wind the abrasive papers around a rubber blocks that have durometer indication of 35 |5, the shore A scale.
NOTE:____ You also can wind the abrasive papers around the block that have a cotton-flannel.
(l) Cover the surface with water while you sand the surface.
NOTE:____ Be careful not to cause too much heat while you sand the area.
(m) Hold the area that you sanded to a minimum necessary area until you get a satisfactory repair.
NOTE:____ It is necessary to make the area that is adjacent to the smooth repaired area look smooth.
(n) (o) (p) (q) (r) During each step, you must remove the remaining scratches when you continue to grade the adhesive.Clean with water each time you change the grit.Get a smooth surface.Clean with water until you remove the grit.Follow these steps to polish and to get a good visual finish: 1) Polish the surface with the machine.
NOTE:____ Polish with the machine is better when the equipment and an approved person are available.
2) 3) 4) 5) 6) Touch with pressure.Balance the feed rate and the wheel speed to prevent too much heat.Use a stitched muslin wheel and learock S-30 buffing compound for the initial buffing.Change the direction of the feed constantly and use only light pressure.Complete the polish with a loose, open, not stitched wheel with spares and Learock 888 buffing compound for brighter results.
NOTE:____ You can make the spacers when you remove all the muslin discs. Use the scissors to decrease half of them to the half initial diameter.
