 8.  Automatic Fire Overheat Logic Test System Cards (AFOLTS)

 A.  Eight AFOLTS cards interpret detection control card signals, provide system functional test, and output fire warning and fault indication signals for main cargo fire detection system.
 B.  The AFOLTS cards are located in the M5206 card file.
 9.  Modular Avionic & Warning Electronic Assembly (MAWEA)

 A.  The MAWEA is a part of multiplex system which transmit information about altitude alert, stall warning, takeoff warning, landing warning, master warning lights, and aural warning. It uses 115-volts AC power supply and has 18 printed circuit cards. For fire detection system, MAWEA sends aural warning and master warning light (if applicable) for engine, APU, lower cargo and main deck cargo from AFOLTS to EIU. All other functions are done in AFOLTS cards. For each plug in pin numbers, the wiring diagram manual will provide the information (Ref 31-51-00).
 10. Operation (Fig. 2)

 A.  The smoke detectors have built-in-test-equipment (BITE). The BITE does a power-up amd periodic tests of the system. Faults cause alert message, status messages or maintenance messages. On Dual Loop systems this test will reconfigure to single loop if one of the loops is found to be faulty.
 B.  The venturi ejector using engine bleed air, creates a vacuum condition which pulls the sample air through the main cargo smoke detection system. Sample air in each compartment is drawn through the two detectors in each zone via a duct distribution system. There are holes along the smoke detection tubes in main deck cargo compartment.
