Make sure the electrical connector is not damaged.
NOTE: If the squib electrical pins do not enter the
____ receptacles in the electrical connector, the pins can cause damage to the electrical connector.

Connect the electrical connector to the fire bottle squib.
(g)
Do the steps that follow to make sure you did not bend or damage the squib pins.
NOTE: This step is necessary because the pins are most likely
____ to be damaged the first time an electrical connector is connected to the squib.
1) Disconnect the electrical connector from the fire bottle squib. 2) Make sure the squib electrical pins are not bent or
damaged. 3) Make sure the electrical connector is not damaged. 4) Connect the electrical connector to the fire bottle squib.

CAREFUL WHEN YOU MOVE THE FIRE BOTTLE. IF THE BOTTLE IS
ACCIDENTALLY FIRED IT CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS.

Before you touch the squib, do the procedure for devices that are sensitive to electrostatic discharge (AMM 20-41-02/201).

Remove the protective caps, if not previously done, from the thermal relief and refill ports.

Before the bottle is installed, make sure its weight is not more than 0.3 pounds below the weight marked on the bottle.
NOTE: The measured weight includes the charged bottle,
____ the inspection tag attached to the bottle, and the swivel assemblies. If the squib cartridges are not installed on the fire extinguisher bottle, do not install them. Weigh the squib cartridges as loose parts. Include the weight of the squib cartridges in the measured weight. If the squib cartridges are installed, weigh the bottle with the cartridges installed. Remove all protective covers when the parts are weighed.
(a) Make sure the weight of the fire bottle is the same as the weight that shows on the bottle +/- 0.3 pound.
NOTE: Some bottles may have many bottle weights marked, make
____ sure that the last dated, marked weight is used.

Install the squib (8), O-ring (7), and ground lug assembly (6) into the discharge port (4) as shown in Fig. 401.

Torque the squib cartridge (8) to 90-100 pound-inches.

(7) S 824-014Put the bottle in the correct position with the mounting lugs on the support bracket.
(8) S 434-015Install the mounting washers (11) and bolts (12) (three locations).
(9) S 824-016Loosen the gland nut (10) on the discharge head.

Adjust the discharge heads until the discharge ports are aligned to give the best possible hose connection.
