 control wheel is from the center mark on the decal on
 top of the control column.
 (b)  If the control wheel did not center within +/- 0.4 units
 tolerance then increase the centering spring tension by
 tightening the spring adjustment nuts on the centering unit by
 1/4 turn each (AMM 27-11-14/201), and do the steps for control
 wheel centering again.
 (c)  Turn the captain's control wheel clockwise from neutral to full
 travel then release the wheel.
 NOTE: Note and record how far the index mark on top of the____
 control wheel is from the center mark on the decal on
 top of the control column.
 (d)  Make sure that the values recorded are within the required
 tolerance of +/- 0.4 units (2 degrees) of trim.
 (e)  Turn the captain's control wheel counterclockwise from neutral
 to full travel then release the wheel.
 NOTE: Note and record how far the index mark on top of the____
 control wheel is from the center mark on the decal on
 top of the control column.
 (f)  Make sure that the values recorded are within the required
 tolerance of +/- 0.4 units (2 degrees) of trim.
 (g)  If necessary, set the control wheel breakout limits and the
 control wheel centering limits by repeating the adjustment
 steps given above.

 NOTE: The control wheel breakout limits and the centering
____
 limits must be achived concurrently.

 (14) Turn the control wheel clockwise and then counterclockwise to 85 degrees. Do a check as follows:
 (a)  Measure the breakout torque in each of the two directions.
 Make sure that this torque is no more than 42 pound-inches
 (4.74 Nm).
 NOTE:____ The breakout torque is measured when the aileron
 trailing edge starts to move because of a control wheel
 input.
 Use a torque wrench with no more than 140 pound-inches
 (15.8 Nm) full scale.
 (b)  Make sure that the torque at 85 degrees is between 100 and 140
 pound-inches.
 NOTE:____ The torque values are measured during the control
 wheel movement and approximately 2 degrees before the
 control-wheel travel stop.
 (c)  Make sure that the control wheel goes back to neutral (+/- 2
 degrees) when released from the 85 degree position.

 (15)
 Move the aileron trim switches on the P8 panel to RIGHT WING DOWN and hold them there. When the control wheel movement stops, do the steps that follow:

 (a)  
Make sure that the control wheels turn clockwise.

 (b)  
Make sure that the captain's control wheel turns 30 | 2 degrees from neutral position.

 Do the above step for LEFT WING DOWN (make sure the control wheel moves counterclockwise).

 Move the aileron trim switches to their neutral position.

 NOTE: It might be necessary to rotate the control wheel in the
____ left and right directions in decreasing amounts until the neutral position can be determined by feel.

 (18) Remove the control wheel adapter and protractor on captain's control wheel, if not needed.

 (a)  
EICAS (6 locations)
