8. 100-Hour Inspection
At each 100-hourinspection,inspectand operate deicer boots as follows:
(a)
Carefullyinspect deicers for damage or deterioration. Repairorreplace damaged boots.

(b)
Replacebootsshowingconsiderablewear or deterioration.

(c)
Inspectall hose connectionscomprisingthepneumaticdeicingsystem.Replacedeteriorated sections of non-kink hose.

(d)
Checkoperationof boots and operatingpressureof system.

(e)
If new boots areinstalled,checktube inflation to ensureair connection stemsareproperly connected.

(f)
Checkon-offcontrol switch forproperoperationandwiring.

9. Removalof Boots
WARNING: DEICER BOOTS MUST BE REMOVED IN A WELL VENTILATED AREA TO AVOID INHALATIONOF TOXIC, SOLVENT FUMES. TO REMOVE BOOTS, USE TURCO 388 OR KELITE 21; TO REMOVE DRIED CEMENT, USE MEK (METHYLETHYLKETONE)
INSQUIRT CAN.

NOTE: Disconnect linefittingsfrom boot fittings.
(a)
Starting at one comer of deicer upper trailing edge, apply minimum amount of solvent to seam line while applying tensionto peel back comer of deicer.

(b)
Separate deicer boot from surface for 4 inches along upper trailing edge using a pressure handle squirt can filled with solvent.

(c)
Pull deicer down towards leading edge with uniform tension.

(d)
Use pressure handle squirt can from centerline of leading edge to lower trailing edge of deicer to soften bond between deicer and wing skin.

(e)
Use Kelite 21 or Turco 388 to clean dry cement off exposed wing area. Clean area thoroughly with MEK (Methylethylketone).

10.Repair of Boots
Deicer repairs are classified as cold when made on boot still on airplane or vulcanized when boot is taken off airplane.
(a) Cold Repair
NOTE: Materials and supplies required for cold repairs are listed in Chart 3.
(1.) Scuff Damage -Repairs are only necessary when scuff is severe and entire thickness of surface ply is removed in spots (brown natural rubber underneath is exposed). Proceed as follows:
(a.) Clean damaged area with cloth slightly dampened with solvent. Buff area around damagewith P/N 74-451-75emery buffing stick. Wipe buffedarea with clean cloth dampenedslightly with solvent to remove all loose particles.
(b.) Select ample size patch to cover damaged area. Apply one even coat of cement (P/N 74-451-20)to patch and correspond damagedarea. Allow cement to set a few minutesuntil tacky.
(c.) Apply patch to deicer with an edge or the center adhering first. Carefully push down remainderof patch to avoid trapping air pockets. Thoroughly roll patch with stitcher-roller (P/N 74-451-73) and allow to set for 10 to 15 minutes.
(d.) Wipe patch and surrounding areafrom center outward with cloth dampened slightly with solvent. Apply one light coat of A-56-B conductivecement (P/N 74-45-11) to patchedarea.
(e.) Proper adhesionof patch to deicer is reached in 4 hours. To check repair, inflate deicer after 20 minutes.

(a.) Select patch whichextendsat least 5/8-inchbeyondendsandedgesof cut or tear.

inflatabletubes.

(b.) Buffarea around damagewithbuffingstick (P/N 74-451-75).
(c.) Apply patchto deicer with stretch widthwiseof inflatable tubes.Withstickyedgeof patchinplace,work remainder downwithslightpullingactiontocloseinjury.Do not trapair between patch and deicersurface.
(3)  Loose Surface Plyin Rear Area(Non-InflatableArea)-Peel and trimloosesurface ply for proper adhesion of surface plyto deicer.
(a.) Scrub(roughen)area where surfaceplywas removed with steel wool. Ensure scrubbingmotion is parallel tocut edge ofsurfaceply to prevent loosening.Buff edgesofadjoiningsurfaceply1/2-inchwithP/N 74-451-75 buffingsticksandtaper downto tan rubberply. Remove loose particles with solvent andrag.
(b.) Cut piece of surface ply material (P/N74-451-23)to extend at least 1inchin all directionspast damage.
(c.) Mask off damagedboot area 1/2-inchlargerin length andwidththanthe size of surfaceplypatch.Applyonecoatof cement (P/N74-451-11)to damaged areaand onecoat to patch.Allowcementto set until tacky.Rollsurfaceply to deicerwith2 inchrubberroller(P/N74-451-74).Rolledgeswithstitcher-roller(P/N74-451-73)
