A lead mechanic, positioned approximately 8-10 feet behind the power plant, can observe the level of the power plant and cradle and the rate that the hoists are being operated. The lead mechanic can then instruct which mechanics at each of the hoists to stop operating their hoist while the other hoists catch-up to keep the cradle level.
Refer to the AMM Chapter 71 for the power plant removal procedure.
Power Plant Installation
If a different engine will be installed, you must move this equipment from the old engine to the new engine:

Fan cowl support beam

Inlet cowl

*
Engine anti-ice duct.

The procedures for installing the engine are basically the reverse of the removal procedures.
This is a summary of the tasks necessary to install a power plant:

Prepare the airplane for an engine change by doing all the necessary safety tasks

*
Install the bootstrap equipment on the strut if necessary

*
Position the power plant, cradle and transportation stand under the strut

*
Raise the power plant, cradle and the transportation stand with the bootstrap equipment to center the stand under the strut

*
Lower the transportation stand and disconnect power plant and cradle from the stand

*
Raise the power plant and cradle from the transportation stand with the bootstrap equipment

*
Align and engage the engine mounts with the strut

TIP -POWER PLANT REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION

Use the bootstrap hoists to keep the engine mounts pressed against the strut; no gaps at the engine mounts

*
Install the engine mount bolts to connect the engine mounts to the strut

*
Make sure the engine mount bolts hold the power plant to the strut; no gaps at the engine mounts as the load on the hoists are reduced.

*
Detach the cradle from the engine ground handling adapters

*
Lower the cradle onto the transportation stand

*
Remove the ground handling adapters from the engine

*
Complete the power plant installation by doing all the necessary safety and connection tasks and close access panels

*
Do the power plant tests if it is necessary.

The airplane strut is designed to be perpendicular to the wing, so the power plant is mounted at the same angle as the strut because of the wing dihedral angle. The power plant is also mounted at a small pitch up angle; the front is higher than the aft end.
Use extreme care when you raise the power plant with the hoists. This bootstrap equipment uses a 4 point hoist system. With the cradle and power plant level, make sure all the hoists are operated at the same rate to keep the cradle level as you raise it. If the hoists are not operated at the same rate, you can pitch or roll the power plant and cradle so that the engine mounts will not be able to engage the strut and the alignment shear pins. Always watch for clearance problems with the power plant, the bootstrap equipment and the strut.
