Load Share Latches

A load share latch is on the aft cowl of each thrust reverser half at the 2:00 and the 10:00 position. They clamp the aft cowl frame around the load share ring on the engine.
These nonadjustable latches engage an adjustable eyebolt on the load share tension straps in the aft cowl structure. The force to close these latches is approximately 15 pounds (67 newtons). There is a secondary lock in the latch handle; push the lock to open the latch handle to release the latch hook load.
The latch handles are contoured to the shape of the outer surface of the aft cowl. The load share tension latches are not interchangeable between the left and right aft cowls.
The load share tension strap has an adjustable eyebolt to adjust the force to close the load share latch. The strap has centering spring bracket which centers the strap to prevent binding and high loads to close the latch handle.
Aft Cowl Hoop Tie Latches
An aft cowl hoop tie latch is on the aft cowl of each thrust reverser half at the 5:00 and 7:00 positions. The aft cowl hoop tie latches connect the aft part of the thrust reverser halves together.
These tension latches have adjustable hooks that engage the keepers on the forward tension straps in the aft cowl structure. Use an allen wrench to adjust the hook adjustment bushing. The force to close these tension latches is approximately 50 pounds (222 newtons). There is a secondary lock in the latch handle; push the lock to open the latch handle to release the latch hook load. There is a slot in the latch handle for a screwdriver blade to help open the latch handle if it binds in the closed position. Movement of the latch handle to the closed position will over-center lock the latch and apply the latch hook load. The secondary lock will lock the latch handle to the hook.
The latch handles are contoured to the shape of the outer surface of the aft cowl. The aft cowl hoop tie tension latches are not interchangeable between the left and right aft cowls.
The hoop tie tension straps are not adjustable.
Aft Cowl Split Line Latches
Two split line latches are on the left aft cowl at the 6:00 position. The split line latches connect the aft cowl of the thrust reverser together.
