The first-ever CIRRUS aircraft – the kit-built VK30 – was inducted today into the
Experimental Aircraft Association’s (EAA) AirVenture museum located at the
organization’s home base in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. The VK30 made its debut to the
public in 1987 at the EAA’s AirVenture Air Show, held annually in Oshkosh.
“When the VK30 first appeared in 1987, who could have imagined that in less than 20
years, Cirrus Design would evolve into one of the world’s largest manufacturers of
single engine aircraft,” said EAA President Tom Poberezny. “The VK30 represents
the spirit of design and innovation, and highlights the heritage of Cirrus Design’s
innovation in design and performance that have been the company’s foundation
from the very beginning.”
“To overcome and achieve, the innovators have to tune out the naysayers, keep
working, and sustain their dedication to the dream,” said Poberezny. “From the
VK30 to the present fleet of over 2,000 SR20’s and SR22’s, Alan and Dale Klapmeier
were able to keep their dream alive, and build CIRRUS into the thriving company it
has become.”

into a production airplane, and in the process create a very successful company,”

CIRRUS SR22 RECEIVES EUROPEAN CERTIFICATION
N-Registration No Longer Required for CIRRUS European Customers
London, England (April 21, 2006) Cirrus Design Corp., announced today at Fly!
The London Air Show, that it received European Aviation Safety Agency
(EASA) certification for its CIRRUS SR22 - the world’s best selling aircraft.
Effective immediately, all CIRRUS SR series aircraft are Type Certified for
import into the European Union.
Making the announcement, Cirrus Executive Vice President of Sales and
Marketing, John M. Bingham said, “Now Cirrus owners can register their plane
in their country of residence, as opposed to a US registration. This is
significant news for Cirrus and our potential owners across Europe. The
EASA certification will also expedite development of market specific products
that address the wants and needs of our European customer.”
CIRRUS Sr. Vice President of Engineering, Patrick Waddick, said, “EASA
worked very closely with the Federal Aviation Administration, and CIRRUS to
sustain the rapid pace of CIRRUS’ continual product enhancements.”
Alan Klapmeier, CIRRUS CEO stated, “The European market plays an integral
role in the strategic growth of the company. Personal Aviation offers
tremendous value and this certification expands our ability to deliver that
value to European customers.”
Bingham stated, “Our UK operation, based at Turweston Airport near Oxford is
increasingly important as Cirrus develops its European distribution plan.
Along with the decision to partner with Britten-Norman for re-assembly of
planes at its Isle of Wight plant, we are steadily ramping-up our ability to better
sell and service new customers across the continent.”
Europe is the second largest market for the highly regarded Cirrus Airframe
Parachute System (CAPS) equipped airplanes. Cirrus is represented across
