A. Safety Precautions
(1)
On the center pedestal, on the ENG panel 115VU:
(a) Put a warning notice to tell persons not to start the engine 1(2).
(2)
Make sure that the engine 1(2) has been shutdown for at least 5 minutes.
(3)
On the overhead maintenance panel 50VU:
(a)
Make sure that the ON legend of the ENG/FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
(b)
Install a warning notice to tell persons not to energize the FADEC 1(2).

A. Visual Inspection of Pylon Fire-Detection Loops
(Ref. Fig. 601/TASK 26-12-00-991-300)
(1)
Make sure that the straight length of the sensing element from the responder head welding is 20 mm (0.7874 in.) minimum (see detail A).
(2)
Make sure that the radius of the sensing element is 9.5 mm (0.3740 in.) minimum.
(3)
Make sure that the minimum distance between the sensing element and its support is 6 mm (0.2362 in.) (see detail B).
(4)
Make sure that the maximum distance between the ends of the two sensing elements and the last clamp is 25.4 mm (1.0000 in.) (see detail C).
(5)
Make sure that all the bushes are in good condition. If not, replace them (Ref. TASK 26-12-16-000-001) (see details B and C).
(6)
Make sure that there is no damage or chafing on the fire detectors, the rail assemblies and the related brackets.
(7)
Make sure that there is no damage or chafing on the detection harness insulations to prevent short circuit.

B. Visual Inspection of Fan Fire-Detection Loops

(1)
Make sure that the straight length of the sensing element from the responder head welding is 20 mm (0.7874 in.) minimum.
(2)
Make sure that the minimum distance between the sensing element and its support is 6 mm (0.2362 in.).
(3)
Make sure that all the grommets are in good condition. If not, replace them (Ref. TASK 26-12-15-000-042) (see detail B).
(4)
Make sure that there is no damage or chafing on the fire detectors, the rail assemblies and the related brackets.
(5)
Make sure that there is no damage or chafing on the detection harness insulations to prevent short circuit.

Make sure that all the bushes are in good condition. If not, replace them (Ref. TASK 26-12-17-000-041).
