3. Fault Confirmation
__________________
A. Due to the spurious nature of this failure it is not possible to do a Fault Confirmation in the normal sense.
(1) To open and close ICTVs, and check the system operation:
(a) On the ECAM CONTROL PANEL:
- push (in) the FUEL system page P/BSW.
(b) Make sure the FUEL system page is shown.
(c) Read Steps (d), (e), and (f) before starting same.
(d) Do the Power Up Functional (BITE) Test of the FLSS (Ref. AMM TASK 28-46-00-740-001).
OR (if the FQIC is already powered).

NOTE : The ICTVs are not tested by the CFDS(FUEL) - COMMAND FLSS

BITE menu option.
NOTE : The left and right wing inner cells must contain more than
____ 1500kg(3300lb) of fuel for the ICTVs to be tested. Refuel inner cells to greater than this level if necessary.
NOTE : The intercell transfer valves (ICTVs) are motor driven and
____ the power for these circuits is derived from the main power. The ICTVs are immobilized on battery power.
(e) Observe the ECAM lower display (SD page) while the FQIC/FLSS BITE Test is in progress.
(f) Make sure the intercell transfer valve symbol for each wing is seen to open and then close during the BITE Test.
(2) If this is:
(a) the first in flight occurence of this failure:
- maintenance steps are not necessary.
(b) the second or more in flight occurence of this failure:
- do Para. 4.A.
4. Fault Isolation
_______________
A. Remove the relays 5QP, 6QP, 7QP, and 8QP, one at a time and carry out the procedure that follows:
(1) If this is:
(a) The first Trouble-shooting attempt:
- do investigative Trouble-shooting starting with Step (2).
(b) The subsequent Trouble-shooting attempt:
- do Trouble-shooting by substitution, Step (19).
(2) Remove the relay from its location (socket).
(3) Carefully examine the relay for visible damage or blackened pins.
(4) If the relay is damaged or marked replace the relay.
(5) At an electrical test facility using a variable-voltage Power Supply Unit (PSU), 0 to 30 VDC:
(a) Set PSU to 28VDC.

(b) Connect positive supply to pin X1 (marked with colored bead).
(c) Connect negative supply to pin X2.
(d) Reduce the PSU voltage to zero (0 VDC).
(e) Gradually increase the voltage until the relay contacts close (indicated by a clicking sound).
(f) Make sure the contacts close before the voltage reaches 7VDC.
(g) Gradually reduce the voltage to zero (0 VDC).
(h) Make sure the contacts open before the coil voltage reaches 1.5VDC.
(i) Set PSU to the rated voltage of the relay coil (28VDC).
(j) With a multimeter measure the current flowing through the relay coil.
(k) Make sure the coil current does not exceed 87.5 mA.
