 (5)  Look at the fuel synoptic display. (a) Make sure the No. 3 crossfeed valve symbol is white and the flowbar in the valve symbol is perpendicular to the fuel-feed segment.

 (6)  Put these fuel boost pump switches on the fuel management control module, M154, to the ON position: (a) MAIN 3 FWD (b) MAIN 3 AFT

 (7)  Look at the fuel synoptic. (a) Wait for two minutes. (b) Make sure the fuel quantity in the No. 4 main tank does not increase.

 (8)  If the fuel quantity in the No. 4 main tank does not increase, the No. 3 crossfeed valve is in the closed position.

 (9)  Do these steps to open the crossfeed valve for the No. 3 main tank. (a) Put this switch on the fuel management control module, M154, to the on position: 1) FUEL X FEED 3 (b) Look at the light indication in the FUEL X FEED 3 switch. 1) Make sure the amber VALVE indication light comes on and then goes off. 2) Make sure the white flowbar indication light comes on. (c) Look at the main and auxiliary EICAS displays. 1) Make sure these EICAS messages do not show: a) FUEL X FEED 3 (STATUS) b) FUEL X FEED 3 (ADVISORY)

 Monitor the fuel synoptic.

 (a)  
Make sure the valve symbol for the No. 3 crossfeed valve shows the correct valve open symbol.

 (b)  
Make sure the fuel quantity for the No. 4 main tank increases.

 (c)  Transfer a minimum of 500 lbs (300 kgs) of fuel.
 NOTE: The fuel transfer with the valve completely open should

Have the person at the refuel panel, P42, put the MAIN 3 refuel valve switch to the OPEN position.

Make sure the manual defuel handle at the pressure refuel station for the right wing is in the OPEN position.
