Install the Cascade Vane Segment (Fig. 401)

(1) Clean all sealant and parting agent from the mating flange of the flange of the cascade vane segment, torque box and aft mounting ring if they are there.
NOTE:____Do not continue to use the sealant and parting agent. The sealant can decrease in size and cause the fasteners for the cascade vane segment to loosen.

CAUTION: THE CASCADE VANE SEGMENTS MUST BE CORRECTLY INSTALLED AND
_______ ALIGNED ON THE THRUST REVERSER. IF THE CASCADE VANE SEGMENTS ARE NOT CORRECTLY INSTALLED AND ALIGNED, IT CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE AIRPLANE.

Put the cascade vane segment into its position.

Install one or two threads of the bolts which attach the cascade vane segment.

For the cascade vane segment which is behind the locking or
non-locking hydraulic actuator, do the steps that follow:
(a)
Put the cascade vane segment in the opening from the adjacent cascade vane segment.
(b)
Turn the hydraulic actuator out and move the cascade vane segment into the blocked position.
(c)
Install one or two threads of the bolts which attach the cascade vane segment.
(5)
Tighten the bolts at the aft mounting ring.

(6) Apply a 25-pound load across the cascade strongbacks, 5 inches to
the rear of the torque box bolts.

(7) Measure the distance between the mating surface of the cascade vane
segment and torque box.
NOTE:____ The maximum distance is 0.030 inch.

Remove the cascade vane segment.

Apply the wet primer to the cascade mating surface of the torque box and aft mounting ring which includes the fastener holes.

Put the cascade vane segment into its position.

Apply the compound below the bolt heads and on the bolt shanks.
NOTE: Do not apply the compound to the bolt threads.

(12) Install all attach bolts.
(a) Tighten the attach bolts with your hand.
