Prepare to Install the Directional Control Valve (DCV)

 S 424-031-N00
 (1)  Install the bonding strap (3) to the strut structure if it was removed.
 NOTE: There are two alternate procedures to install the bonding
____
 strap to the strut.

 (a)  
Install the bonding strap (3) to the strut structure with the screw (25), washers (18, 20, and 27), and nut (26).

 (b)  
Install the bonding strap (3) to the strut structure with the washer (20) and nut (19).

 (2)  AIRPLANES WITHOUT ONE-WAY VALVE RESTRICTORS;
 install the hardware for the hydraulic extend line.

 (a)  
Lubricate the new packing (23) with hydraulic fluid.

 (b)  
Install the packing (23) and the retainer (24).

 (c)  
Install the nut (22).

 (d)  
Install the extend flow control tee (1) on the DCV (2) (AMM 78-34-02/401).

 NOTE: Do not completely tighten the swivel nut as you will
____ have to align it with the hydraulic lines.

 (3)  AIRPLANES WITH ONE-WAY VALVE RESTRICTORS;
 install the hardware for the hydraulic extend line.

 (a)  
Lubricate the new packing (14) with hydraulic fluid.

 (b)  
Install the packing (14) on the union (13).

 (c)  
Install the union (13) in the hydraulic extend port of the DCV.

 (d)  
Install the extend flow control tee (1A) on the hydraulic lines

 (5) if it was removed (AMM 78-34-02/401).

 (4)  Install the hardware for the hydraulic pressure line.
 (a)  
Lubricate the new packing (10) with hydraulic fluid.

 (b)  
Install the new packing (10) on the union (9).

 (c)  
Install the union (9) in the hydraulic pressure port of the DCV.

 (a)  
Lubricate the new packing (10) with hydraulic fluid.

 (b)  
Install the packing (10) on the union (9).

 (c)  
Install the union (9) in the hydraulic return port of the DCV.

Install the hardware for the hydraulic retract line.

 (a)  
Lubricate the new packing (8) with hydraulic fluid.

 (b)  
Install the packing (8) on the union (7).

 (c)  
Install the union (7) in the retract port of the DCV.

Install the DCV in the strut.

 (1)  Install the DCV (2) on the support bracket with the bolts (11) and washers (12).
 (a)  Tighten the bolts (11).

Install the bonding strap (3) on the forward face of the DCV (2) with the screw (17), washers (18, 20, and 21) and nut (19).
