3. Remove/Install the Hardware at the Inner and Outer Mounts of the Main Landing-Gear Strut
A. Equipment

B. Remove the Hardware from the Inner/Outer Mount of the Main Landing-Gear Strut
(Refer to Figure 1 – Sheets 1 and 2)
Detail Steps/Work Items Key Items
(1) Remove the applicable wing. Refer to Chapter 57-10
(2) Remove the applicable main landing-gear
strut.
Refer to Chapter 32-10
(3) Remove the hardware from the inner mount
of the main landing-gear strut, as follows:
NOTE: The inner mount is not removed.
− Remove the nuts, bolts and washers at
the forward side of the inner mount
− Remove the nuts, bolts and washers at
the rear side of the inner mount.
NOTE: The bolts for the forward side and
rear side are different in length.
Washers are installed on the bolt
side and the nut side.
There are six nuts, six bolts and 12
washers.
There are four nuts, four bolts and eight
washers.
(4) Make sure that the spar bridge, at the
location of the inner mount, is not damaged.
Look especially for cracks, chips or
delamination.
(5) Replace the hardware. Refer to the installation of the hardware.
(6) Remove the hardware from the outer mount
of the main landing-gear strut, as follows:
NOTE: The outer mount is not removed.
− Remove the nuts, bolts and washers at
the forward side of the outer mount
− Remove the nuts, bolts and washers at
the rear side of the outer mount.
NOTE: The bolts for the forward side and
rear side are the same in length.
Washers are installed on the bolt
side and the nut side.
There are six nuts, six bolts and 12

(7) Make sure that the spar bridge, at the
location of the outer mount is not damaged.

main landing-gear strut, as follows:
NOTE: The outer mount is bonded to the
spar bridge.
− Install the bolts, washers and nuts at the
rear side of the outer mount and spar
bridge
− Torque the bolts to 5.6 – 7.9 Nm
(50 - 70 in.lb.)
− Install the bolts, washers and nuts at the
forward side of the outer mount and spar
bridge
− Torque the bolts to 5.6 – 7.9 Nm
(50 - 70 in.lb.).
NOTE: The bolts for the forward side and
rear side are the same in length.

Apply Mastinox 6856K to the shank of
each bolt only. Be careful to not get
Mastinox on the threads of the bolt.

(3) Install the main landing gear strut. Refer to Chapter 32-10
(4) Install the wing. Refer to Chapter 57-10.

4. Test/Adjust the Main Landing Gear
Do this work at the following times:
− At each 1000 hour check.
− After a hard landing.
− After any repair to the main landing gear strut.
