+ LOOKING BACK
In the context of the economic crisis which has affected our major markets, it comes as no surprise that
Clemex Technologies’ results reflect a decrease in revenues for Fiscal Year 2009.
Sales were $ 5,120,918, a 10 % decline from last year. These results are directly linked to the collapse
of the manufacturing sector in North America, where sales have decreased by $ 845,711. Fortunately,
these results were partly offset by a better performance in Europe where sales rose by $ 415,203 in
2009.
Overall, the Corporation’s sustained income is attributed to the continuous efforts invested in diversifying
our target markets and in increasing our penetration of traditional markets such as the pharmaceutical
sector as well as academic research and thus, reducing our dependency on the manufacturing industry.
These strategic actions have been important for 2009 results and they should continue to have a
stabilizing effect in the context that no one can predict when the North American economy will recover
in a sustainable manner.
Clemex Management was able to limit the negative effects of the economic
situation by adopting an important expenditure reduction plan. Although
never easy to execute, several measures were implemented in the
second quarter of FY2009 to streamline administrative and other
business costs.
Despite the economic situation, Clemex was able to maintain its
Gross Margin at 59%, equivalent to the previous year. Finally, the
Corporation ended its Fiscal Year with a limited loss of $ 9 599 before
taxes, which is considered satisfactory, given the context.
+ STAYING ON TRACK
As a result of our increased control over several strategic levers which
contribute to our success, Clemex’ branding is gaining visibility and
recognition as a guarantee of performance and reliability of image analysis
technology in different markets.
Our products are becoming icons when compared to competitors for quality and competitive
prices. For instance, this is highly reflected by the increased sales activities generated by the launch of
a new MicroHardness tester, the Clemex CMT.HD, near the end of the Fiscal Year 2009.

Also, we have recently revised our modes of distribution by optimizing our current sales representatives
and resellers and by creating new partnerships with international distributors. This will ensure broader
and more effective market coverage. Thus, the distribution agreement with Horiba, as well as other
strategic partnerships, will contribute to an increased presence in our targeted markets. In this regard,
we continue our informative marketing initiatives to promote the benefits offered by our technology in
comparison with traditional dry powder analysis methods.
In this last Fiscal Year, Clemex has initiated a new R&D project which will allow us to tap into a whole
new area of activities, the analysis of Hematology and Pathology images. Issues and challenges in this
sector of activity have been highlighted recently in Canada with problems in breast cancer diagnostic
issues. The National Research Council of Canada (CNRC) has recognized our innovation and technical
capabilities and has awarded us a research grant of $482,000 to support this project. This is a very
promising sector for Clemex as the market is looking for more efficient and reliable solutions and the
economic potential is extraordinary. Clemex plans to have specialized instrument ready for this new
market at the end of the fiscal year 2010.
Nevertheless, as the President and CEO of Clemex, I sincerely believe that the overall future of the
Corporation is quite promising. In these difficult economic conditions, we need to continue questioning
and reviewing our ways of doing things. We must continue to explore new avenues of growth that could
mark a real turning point for the future of Clemex. I take this opportunity to thank all our partners and
customers for their continued support.
