C. Install the Engine Control Cables.
 S 422-005-C00
 (1)  Install the new engine control cables that have the correct length,
 the correct end fittings, and construction.

 NOTE: The zinc-only and tin-over-zinc coated cables are
____ interchangeable, provided the opposite cables within a cable loop are of the same type. The use of mixed types of cables within a cable loop has unwanted effect on the system rigging.
 NOTE: If you are to install engine control cables in the wing
____ area, it is necessary to install corrosion resistant steel (CRES) cables. Refer to Boeing Service Letter 737-SL-76-9-A for more information.
 (a)  Examine the cable specification table for the length, the end fittings, and cable construction.
 NOTE: Figure 205 gives a number of examples that can be used
____ to make the cables. To find an example for a specific cable you need to read the part numbers of the cable fittings from the tables and then look for the correct example. Use Figure 205 for all cables except when the table refers to another figure.

 (2)  If you must replace the engine control cables, do these procedures:
 (a)  
Refer to AMM 20-10-04/401, for the procedure to install the control cable air seals

 (b)  
Refer to AMM 20-10-41/401 for the procedure to install the control cable grommets.

 (c)  
Refer to AMM 20-10-10/401 for the procedure to install the locking clip on the control cable turnbuckles.

 (d)  
Refer to AMM 20-10-91/401 for the procedure to install the thrust control cables.

 (3)  
After the engine control cables are installed, do these steps:

 (a)  
Make sure all the pulleys can turn freely without interference with all the cable guards.

 (b)  
Make sure the control cables are not moved from the usual travel position by the fairleads, rubstrips, or the grommets.

 (c)  
Make sure the cables do not touch the pulley flanges or the quadrant flanges over the full cable travel.

 (4)  
Adjust the engine control system (AMM 76-11-00/501).

Close the access door, 1103L.

 (b)  
Close the access door, 1201L.

 (c)  
Install the ceiling lining in the forward cargo compartment (AMM 25-52-65/401).

 (d)  
Close the forward cargo door, 4404R.

 (e)  
For the right wing, close the access door 6401R.

 (f)  
For the left wing, close the access door 6301L.

 (g)  
For the right wing, close the access panel 6402R.

 (h)  
For the left wing, close the access panel 6302L.

Do the activation procedure for the leading edge slats
 (AMM 27-81-00/201).
