 C.  The indicators are used for refueling operations and are energized by 28v dc power whenever the refuel control panel door is open. Operation of the indicator display can be verified with the fueling quantity indicator test switch.
 6.  Fueling Quantity Indicator Test Switch (Fig. 1)

 A.  The fueling quantity indicator test switch is located on the refuel control panel at the left wing fueling station. The switch is identified as TEST GAGES.
 B.  When switch is pressed, all segments of the actual and preselect fuel quantity displays illuminate on the fueling panel indicators. Indication will return to normal when switch is released or 10 seconds has elapsed. Operation of the switch has no effect on the fuel quantities displayed on EICAS or on any fueling operations.
 7.  Fuel Quantity Processor Unit (Fig. 1)

 A.  The fuel quantity processor unit is the principal component of the fuel quantity indicating system. The processor calculates fuel quantity and transmits the data for display in the flight compartment and at the refuel control panel. The processor also controls the automatic shutoff feature of the pressure fueling system.
 B.  The processor is located in the center equipment center, installed on the E6 rack immediately forward of the access door. Receptacles on the front of the processor connect it with the in-tank components, the refuel valves, the preselect control thumbwheels on the refueling control panel, and the ARINC 429 digital data buses. Other connectors on the processor connect it to the remote electronics unit (REU), power supply, flight management computer (FMC), refuel control panel, and other signals that define the configuration and status of the airplane.
 C.  The processor unit performs the following functions:
 (1)  
Provides excitation signals to the tank units, compensators, and densitometers in the fuel tanks.

 (2)  
Receives signals from the in-tank components, performs necessary computations, and outputs fuel quantity data to the flight compartment, the fueling quantity indicators on the refueling control panel, and the FMC.

 (3)  
Checks the in-tank components for faulty wiring, bad connections, contamination, and out-of-tolerance conditions, then outputs data to central maintenance computer (CMCS) for trouble shooting.

 (4)  
Computes total fuel quantity and density, then outputs data on ARINC 429 buses for display on the main EICAS screen in the flight compartment.

 (5)  
Receives input from the preselect control thumbwheels and preselect switch and computes final fuel load required in each tank based on quantity preselected.

Controls operation of refuel valves during pressure fueling
 operation.

 (7)  
Outputs capacitance data for each tank unit and compensator, outputs fuel density in each tank, and outputs volumetric shutoff adjustment setting for each tank for display on EICAS.

 (8)  
Provides imbalance signal for display on EICAS if the fuel quantity in the inboard main tanks differs by more than 6,000 pounds (2721 kilograms). The imbalance signal will remain active until the difference in fuel quantity between the inboard main tanks is less than 1000 pounds (450 kilograms).

 (9)  
Provides imbalance signal for display on EICAS if the fuel quantity in the outboard main tanks differs by more than 3,000 pounds (1360 kilograms). The imbalance signal will remain active until the difference in fuel quantity between the outboard main tanks is less than 1000 pounds (450 kilograms).

 (10)
 Provides low fuel signal for display on EICAS if the fuel weight in any main tank decreases below 2,000 pounds. The low fuel signal will remain active until there is a minimum of 2500 pounds (1130 kilograms) of fuel in each of the main tanks.

 (11)
 Provides signal if fuel quantity in an inboard main tank decreases below fuel quantity in an outboard main tank.

 (12)
 Provides signal to the fuel system management cards (FSMC) when fuel quantity in the inboard main tanks decreases below 6,000

 U.S. gallons (22,700 liters) - initiates reserve-to-main tank fuel transfer.
