Install the Fan Air Temperature Sensor

 S 434-010
 (1)  
If you must install a new fan air temperature sensor, do the steps that follow:

 (a)  
Apply the lubricant to the O-rings.

 (b)  
Install the O-ring on the reducer.

 (c)  
Apply anti-seize compound to the threads of the reducer.

 (d)  
Install the reducer in the cooling air port.

 (e)  
Install the jamnut and the O-ring on the elbow.

 (f)  
Apply anti-seize compound to the threads of the elbow.

 (g)  
Install the elbow in the signal pressure port.

 NOTE: Do not tighten the jamnut until the elbow aligns with
____
 the signal pressure tube.

 S 434-011
 (2)  Install a new gasket on the Fan Air Temperature Sensor.
 NOTE: Make sure the control pressure line of the fan air
____ temperature sensor is visible through the hole in the gasket.
 S 424-012
 (3)  Use the four mounting bolts and washers to install the fan air temperature sensor on the mounting boss.

Tighten the four mounting bolts to 60-70 pound-inches (6.8-7.9 newton-meters).

Apply anti-seize compound to the threads of the pneumatic
 connectors.

Align the elbow with the signal pressure tube.

 (a)  
Tighten the jamnut.

Remove the protective caps from the tubes.

Connect the signal pressure tube to the elbow.

Connect the cooling air tube to the reducer.

 E. Post Fan Air Temperature Sensor Installation Leak Check - Method 1

 (1)  
Apply the leak detector to the mounting boss and the tube
 connections.

Dry motor the engine (Ref 71-00-00/201).

While the engine is motoring, examine the connections for leakage.

 (a)  
If bubbles come slowly into view, the quantity of leakage is satisfactory.

 (b)  
If bubbles come quickly into view, or if a jet blast of leakage occurs, you must repair the cause of the leakage.

 (4)  
Stop motoring the engine.

 F. Post Fan Air Temperature Sensor Installation Leak Check - Method 2

 (1)  
Apply the leak detector to the mounting boss and the tube
 connections.

 (2)  
Pressurize the pneumatic system upstream of the PRSOV
 (AMM 36-00-00/201).

 (3)  
Examine the connections for leakage.

 (a)  
If bubbles come slowly into view, the quantity of leakage is satisfactory.
