B. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
(1)
Make sure that the applicable fuel tank is defuelled (Ref. TASK 28-25-00-650-001).
(2)
Make sure that the remaining fuel has been drained from the applicable fuel tank (Ref. TASK 28-25-00-650-003).
(3)
Make sure that the access platform is below the applicable access panel 540PB(640PB).
(4)
Make sure that the applicable access panel 540PB(640PB) is removed (Ref. TASK 28-10-00-910-002), (Ref. TASK 57-27-11-000-002).

(1)

A. Preparation for Installation
(1) Clean the component interface and/or the adjacent area with a MISCELLANEOUS (Material No. 19-003) made moist with CLEANING AGENTS (Material No. 11-026).
(2) Make sure that the parts retained from the removed component are clean and in the correct condition.
(3) Do an inspection of the component interface and/or the adjacent area.
(4) Lubricate the new O-ring (5) and the new O-ring (6) with FUELS (Material No. 01-001) or COMMON GREASE (Material No. 04-012).
(5) Install the O-ring (6) in the seal ring (11).
(6) Install the O-ring (5) around the adaptor (4).
(7) Lubricate the threads of the adaptor (4) and the nut (7) with LUBRICANTS (Material No. 06-011).

R B. Installation of the Gravity Fill Cap/Adaptor
(1) Apply a thin layer of SEALANTS (Material No. 09-001) to the component interface on the wing.
(2) Install the adaptor (4) with the diamond mark forward and aligned with the line of flight.
(3) Install the seal ring (11), insulating gasket (10) and the nut (7) on the adaptor (4).
R (4) Use the SPANNER-OVERWING FILLER (98D28004000000) and TORQUE the nut
(7) to between 5.7 and 7.9 m.daN (42.03 and 58.25 lbf.ft).
(5)
Make sure that the diamond mark on the adaptor (4) stays aligned with the line of flight.
(6)
To install the locking plate (9) on the nut (7):
(a)
Install the locking plate (9) in a slot in the adaptor (4) and make a mark for the two rivet holes.
(b)
Drill two holes 4.064 mm (0.16 in.) dia in the nut (7) and deburr the holes.
(c)
Make sure that you remove the swarf from the work area.
(d)
Apply a thin layer of SEALANTS (Material No. 09-005) to the mating surfaces of the locking plate (9).
(e)
Hold the locking plate (9) in position and secure with the blind rivets (8).
(f)
Remove the unwanted sealant from around the locking plate (9). Make sure that you keep a smooth fillet around the edges.
(g)
Attach the lanyard (3) to the locking plate (9).
