 C. Procedure
 S 424-014
 (1)  Install the exhaust duct muffler:
 (a)  
Install the fire detection element on the forward end of the exhaust duct muffler.

 (b)  
AIRPLANES WITHOUT THE DUCT ALIGNMENT ASSEMBLY (PRE-SB 49-1101); Install the exhaust duct muffler on the heat shield with the bolts and washers.

 (c)  
AIRPLANES WITH THE DUCT ALIGNMENT ASSEMBLY (POST-SB 49-1101); Make sure the brackets on the exhaust duct muffler are the one piece type (approximately one inch height).

 (d)  
AIRPLANES WITH THE DUCT ALIGNMENT ASSEMBLY (POST-SB 49-1101); Install the exhaust duct muffler into the heat shield.

 (e)  
AIRPLANES WITH THE DUCT ALIGNMENT ASSEMBLY (POST-SB 49-1101); Install the duct alignment assembly to the brackets. 1) Apply the antiseize compound to the threads of the bolts. 2) Attach the duct alignment assembly to the brackets with the

 bolts.

 (f)  
Install the APU power plant (AMM 49-11-00/401).

 (g)  
AIRPLANES WITH THE DUCT ALIGNMENT ASSEMBLY (POST-SB 49-1101); Make sure there is a minimum clearance of 0.75 inch (1.9 mm) between the exhaust duct muffler and the exhaust port of the APU turbine section: 1) If it is necessary, adjust the bolts that attach the duct

 alignment assembly to the brackets until the clearance is correct. 2) Tighten the bolts that attach the sliding nuts in the groove of the duct alignment assembly.

 (h)  
AIRPLANES WITH THE DUCT ALIGNMENT ASSEMBLY (POST-SB 49-1101); Install the caps to the drip pan. 1) Apply the sealant to the mating surface of the caps. 2) Attach the caps to the drip pan with the bolts.

 (i)  
Connect the electrical connector for the fire detection element on the exhaust duct muffler.

EXHAUST DUCT MUFFLER - INSPECTION/CHECK

 1.  General_______
 A.  This procedure gives the task to inspect the exhaust duct muffler. To inspect the exhaust duct muffler, it must be removed from the airplane.

 (1)  
Remove the exhaust duct muffler (AMM 49-81-11/401).

 S 216-006

 (2)  
Do a visual inspection of the exhaust duct muffler:

 (a)  
Examine the exhaust duct muffler for wrinkles. 1) Wrinkles lower than 1/4 inch and found along a smooth contour surface are permitted.

 2)  Felt metal liner wrinkles are permitted unless the felt metal liner has holes larger than 1/8 inch caused by corrosion.

 (b)  
Examine the exhaust duct muffler for cracks.
