 (3)  Use the moisture indicator follows to do a check for moisture:
 NOTE: The moisture meter indicates pockets in airctaft radomes
____ by measuring the radio frequency dielectric power loss of the material in contact with the moisture meter's gun. The radio frequency depth of penedtration is approximately 2.5 inches. Any conductive material such as water, aluminum, or metallic fasteners within 3 inches from the gun will cause the meter to read high. It is important that all metallic parts be removed from the area on the radome that is being tested for moisture content.
 (a)  
Hold the gun part of the moisture indicator a minimum of 3 inches from each part.

 (b)  
Push the ON-OFF switch on the case to the ON position.

 (c)  
Touch the gun part of the moisture indicator on the inner surface of the radome.

 (d)  
Move the gun along the inner surface of the radome while you monitor the meter.

 NOTE: The meter must show zero for most of the time.

 (e)  
You must dry and then seal all of the areas where you find moisture.

 (f)

Move the gun around the areas that have meter indications.

 (h)  
If there is an indication of (above 5 on the scale), you must dry and seal the area.

 (i) Repair all of the damage you find (SRM 53-10-72).
 E. Procedure - Do a Check of the Conductor Straps and Diverter Strips

 (1)  Do the visual check that follows:
 (a)  
Examine the conductor strips for tears, loose areas, burned areas, and general deterioration.

 (b)  
Examine the aluminum diverter strips for loose fasteners, burned areas, and corrosion.

 NOTE: Sharp corners, or points on the conductive
____ strip can cause radio interference.

 (2)  Do the steps that follow to measure the conductivity:
 (a)  
With the radome open, measure the resistance between the ends of the diverter strips (the ends closest to the bulkhead) and the bulkhead.

 NOTE:____The maximum resistances must be 0.1 ohm. Use a test probe with a sharp point to go through the paint or epoxy on the strip.

 (b)  
With the radome closed, measure the resistance between the diverter strips on the radome and body structure skin.

 NOTE: The maximum resistance must be 0.1 ohms.

 (3)  If there is damage, replace the radome (AMM 53-52-00/401).
 F. Procedure - Do a Check of the Director Bar for the Glide Slope Antenna

 (1)  
Do a check for damage of the director bar for the glide slope antenna.

 (2)
Make sure the attachment of the director bar is satisfactory.

 S 966-010-B00

 (3)  
If you find damage or an unsatisfactory bond, replace the director bar (AMM 53-52-31/401).
