 (1)  
Make sure that you install the ground locks of the landing gear (AMM 09-11-00/201).

Install the rig pin in the interconnect quadrant of the rudder pedal under the flight compartment floor (AMM 32-51-00/501).

Remove the steering tiller and the cable drum.

 (a)  
Remove the tiller handle from the shaft and remove the handle assembly.

 (b)  
Remove the pointer.

 (c)  
Remove the sidewall panel.

 (d)  
Remove the spacer.

 (e)  
Loosen the cable tension at the turnbuckles.

 (f)  
Remove the bracket bolts.

 (g)  
Remove the nut from the outboard end of the shaft and remove the bearings from the bracket.

 (h)  
Remove the drum stop and the pin and remove the cable drum.

 (i)  
Remove the cotter pins from the cable fairleads and remove the cables.

 3.  Steering Tiller and Cable Drum Installation___________________________________________
 A. Special Tools and Equipment
 (1)  G12001 - Rigging Pins Rigging Pins - NS-1, NS-2 and NS-3, 0.311 (+0.000/-0.002)-inch diameter, 4.00-(NS-1 and -2) 6.00-(NS-3) inch length.
 NOTE: Rigging pin is part of G12001 tool kit

Install the Tiller and the Cable Drum (Fig. 401)

 (1)  
Install the steering tiller and the cable drum.

 (a)  
Fully clean the shaft, the bolts, the washers, the nuts, the bearings and the mating surfaces.

 (b)  
Install the steering cable in the drum and install the cotter pins.

 (c)  
Put the cable drum in its position in the bracket and install the shaft.

 (d)  
Lubricate the bearings with grease and install them in the bracket.

 (e)  
Install the washer and the nut on the outboard end of the shaft.

 (f)  
Tighten the outboard nut to a torque of 30-40 pound-inches

 (3.4 - 4.5 Nm).
 (g)  
Install the cable drum stop.

 (h)  
Install the pin and install it with a washer and a cotter pin.

 (i)  
Install the bracket.

 (j)  
Install the spacer on the shaft.

 (k)  
Install the sidewall panel.

 (l)  
Install the rig pin through the hole on the sidewall.

 NOTE: The rig pin must go through the bracket and the cable
____ drum. Turn the shaft to align the holes of the drum and the bracket.
 (m)  
Install the pointer and align the pointer end with the arrow on the decal on the sidewall.

 (n)  
Install the tiller handle.

 (o)  
Clean the inner side of the shaft.

 (p)  
Install the handle retaining bolt with the countersunk washer and tighten the bolt to 25 pound-inches (2.8 Nm) torque.

 (q)  
Do a check for looseness in the assembly. 1) If the assembly is loose, replace the bolt.

 (2)
Adjust the steering cable of the nose wheel (AMM 32-51-00/501).

 S 434-030

 (3)  
Tighten the retaining bolt of the tiller handle to 75-100
 pound-inches (8.5-11.3 Nm) torque.
