Procedure

 S 024-032-N00
 (1)  Remove the control cable:
 (a)  
Disconnect the coupling nut which attaches the forward end of the control cable to the actuator for the TCC air valve.

 (b)  
Remove the bolt and nut which attach the cable rod end to the idler arm on the shutoff valve for the HPT case cooling air.

 (c)  
Loosen the jamnuts of the control cable at the cable aft support bracket.

 (d)  
Remove the bolts and nuts which attach the control cable clamps to the two support brackets.

 (e)  
Disengage the inner piece on the forward end of the control cable from the actuator shaft groove.

 (f)  
Remove the control cable from the engine.

Prepare to Install the Control Cable

 S 424-033-N00
 (1)  
If it is necessary to install a new control cable, do the steps that follow:

 (a)  
Make sure the bushing on the aft end on the control cable is installed.

 CAUTION: DO NOT TIGHTEN THE SEAL NUT TO MORE THAN 300 POUND-INCHES
_______
 (33.9 NEWTON-METERS). IF YOU TIGHTEN THE SEAL NUT TOO MUCH, YOU CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE CONTROL CABLE.
 (b)  Tighten the seal nut to 150-200 pound-inches (16.9-22.6 newton-meters) while you hold the control cable with a wrench.
 NOTE: The bushing is correctly installed when the resistance
____ to the torque load increases quickly.
 (c) Loosen the seal nut one-quarter to one-half of a turn.

E. Procedure
 S 424-034-N00
 (1)  Install the control cable:
 (a)  
Move the TCC air valve actuator forward on the slide rails until it touches the bracket stop.

 (b)  
Lubricate the threads of the coupling nut on the forward end of the control cable with engine oil.

 (c)  
Put the control cable in position on the engine.

 (d)  
Engage the inner piece of the forward end of the control cable with the shaft groove of the actuator.

 (e)  
Connect the coupling nut on the forward end of the control cable to the TCC air valve actuator. 1) Tighten the coupling nut with your hand until it is

 correctly installed. 2) Loosen the coupling nut one-quarter of a turn.

 (f)  
Twist the aft end of the control cable and put the control cable into its position in the U-shaped slot in the cable aft support bracket.

 NOTE: Make sure the jamnuts and washers are in the correct
____ position on each side of the U-shaped slot in the cable aft support bracket.
