Eachchapter,includingthe Introduction sectionto the manual,are marked witha yellow plasticized tab divider. Forease of reference,these dividers shall be staggered.
Thecontent of this publication is organized at three levels. The three levels are:
1. System/ChapterThevarious groups are broken down into major systemssuch as Environmental
-Systems,ElectricalPower,Landing Gear, etc. The systems are arranged more or less alphabeticallyrather than by precedence or importance. Theyare assigned a number, which becomesthefirst element of the standardized numberingsystem.Thus, the element "28" of the number28-40-01refersto the chapter "Fuel".Everythingconcerningthe fuel system will be coveredinthis chapter.

Anypublicationconformingto the ATA format will use the same basicnumberingsystem. A person wishinginformationconcerningthe indication portion of the fuel system, would refer to the System/ChapterTab 28-Fuel. The table of contents in the front of this chapter will providealist of sub-systemscoveredin this chapter.For example, the fuel system chapter witha full index would contain:
28-00 General
28-10 Storage (Tanks, cells, necks, caps, etc.)
28-20 Distribution(Fuel lines, pumps, valves, controls, etc.)
28-30 Dump (If in-flight dumpingsystemis installed)
28-40 Indicating (Quantity, temperature,pressure,etc.)
The material is arranged in ascending numericalsequence.

The Air TransportAssociation a specification of America (ATA) has developed for microfiche
reproductionofaircraft publications, for use by all ATA members. The information compiledin this
AeroficheMaintenanceManualwillbe kept currentby revisions distributedperiodically.These
revisionswill supersede allpreviousrevisionsand will be complete Aerofichecard replacements
and shallsupersedeAerofichecardsof the samenumberin the set.
Conversionof Aerofiche code numbers:
alpha/numeric
Example:2J16= Aerofichecardnumbertwo of a given set and grid locationJ16.
First number "2" is the Aerofiche card number.
Letter"J"isthe horizontal line reference per card.
Secondnumber"16" is the vertical line reference percard.
F. IdentifyingRevisedMaterial
A revisionto a page is definedas any changeto the printed matterthatexistedpreviously.Revisions,
additionsand deletions shallbe identified by a vertical black linealongthe left-hand margin of the
pageoppositeonly that portionof the printed matterthatwas changed.
