EUROCONTROL verra son rôle renforcé puisqu’elle
fournira expérience et expertise aux volets règlementaire,
opérationnel et technique du Ciel unique
européen, en coordination étroite avec la Commission
européenne et l’Entreprise Commune SESAR.
La crise que traverse le transport aérien met en
évidence la nécessité de maximiser les niveaux d’efficacité sur
l’ensemble de la chaîne de valeur et le Ciel unique européen
contribuera de manière cruciale à cet objectif. Notre priorité sera
donc d’oeuvrer tous ensemble à l’obtention de résultats dans les
plus brefs délais.
Dans cette perspective, nous avons engagé un ambitieux
projet de modernisation visant à aligner complètement notre
organisation sur les objectifs du Ciel unique européen. La mise
en place du Conseil des services de navigation aérienne (ANSB)
marque l’avènement d’une ère nouvelle sur le plan du partenariat
avec nos partenaires : usagers de l’espace aérien, prestataires
de services de navigation aérienne, aéroports et militaires sont
désormais pleinement associés à la conduite des travaux menés
par l’Agence à l’appui du Ciel unique européen.

Dear readers,
I am pleased to bring to you a restyled Skyway, which aims
to bring you fresh, new information about the key issues and
challenges confronting our industry.
Each issue of the magazine will continue to focus on a
specific topic which will be tackled in depth and from various
perspectives, with the aim of providing a platform for a
constructive dialogue.
This time our attention is turned to the Single European
Sky second package, which was endorsed by the EU Transport
Ministers in March and has just been formally adopted by the
Council. In this issue a number of leading figures bring us up
to speed on their organisation’s priorities, sharing with us their
views on what is at stake at this critical time and the need to
turn commitment into action.
The Single European Sky second package represents a
significant step forward in improving
the performance of European
aviation by providing binding targets
in the key areas of safety, network
capacity, flight efficiency, costeffectiveness
and environmental
sustainability. It also places renewed
emphasis on functional airspace
blocks for a more rational organisation
of airspace across national
borders.
EUROCONTROL is set to reinforce
its role by providing experience
and expertise to the regulatory,
operational and technical dimension
of the Single European Sky, in close
coordination with the European
Commission and the SESAR JU.
These critical times for the aviation industry underscore the
importance of maximising efficiency across the value chain and
the Single European Sky will make a crucial contribution to this
goal – so our focus now must be on working together to deliver
results as quickly as possible.
For our part we have begun an ambitious modernisation
project to fully align our organisation with the objectives of the
Single European Sky. The establishment of the Air Navigation
Services Board (ANSB) marks a new era of partnership with our
stakeholders. Airspace users, air navigation service providers,
airports, and the military are now fully involved in steering the
Agency’s work in support of the Single European Sky.
