5.2.1 2 VOR aerodrome check-point marking
Application
5.2.12.1 When a VOR aerodrome check-point is established,
it shall be indicated by a VOR aerodrome check-point
marking and sign. .

5.2.12.2 Site selection
Note.- Guidance on the selection of sites for VOR aerodrome
check-points is given in Annex .IO, Volume I, Attachment
E.

5.2.12.3 A VOR aerodrome check-point marking shall be
centred on the spot at which an aircraft is to be parked to
receive the correct VOR signal.
Characteristics
5.2.12.4 A VOR aerodrome check-point marking shall
consist of a circle 6. m in diameter and have a line width of
15 crn (see Figure 5-8 (A)).
5.2.12.5 Recommendation.- When it is preferable for
an aircrafi to be aligned in a specifc direction, a line should
be provided that passes through the centre .of the. circle on
the desired azimuth. The line ;should extend 6 m outside
the circle in the desired direction of heading and terminate
in an arrowhead. The width of the line should be I5 cm
(see%igure 5-8 (B)).
5.2.12.6 Recommendation.- A VOR aerodrome checkpoint
marking should preferably be white in colour but should
d~fiefrr om the colour used for the taxiway markings.
Note.- To provide contrast, markings may be bordered
with black.
5.2.13 Aircraft stand markings
Note.- Guidance on the layout of aircraft stand markings
is contained in the Aerodrome Design Manual, Part 4.
Application
5.2.13.1 Recommendation.- Aircraft stand markings
should be provided for designated parking positions on a
paved apron and on a de-icing/anti-icing facility.
Location
5.2.13.2 Recommendation.- Aircrafi stand markings on
a paved apron and on a de-icing/anti-icing facility should be
located so as to provide the clearances specifed in 3.13.6 and
in 3.15.9 respectively, when the nose wheelfollows the stand
marking.
Characteristics
5.2.13.3 Recommendation.- Aircraft stand markings
should include such elements as stand identifcation, lead-in
line, turn bar, turning line, alignment bar, stop line and leadout
line, as are required by the parking conjguration and to
complement other parking aidr.
5.2.13.4 Recommendation.- An aircrafi stand identijication
(letter andor number) should be included in the leadin
line a short distance afier the beginning ofthe lead-in line.
The height of the identifcation should be adequate to be
readablefrom the cockpit ofaircrafi using the stand.
5.2.13.5 Recommendation.- Where two sets of aircrafi
stand markings are superimposed on each other in order to
permit mqre flexible use of the apron and it is d~ficult to
identify which stand marking should be followed, or safety
would be impaired if the wrong marking was followed, then
identifcation of the aircrafi for which each set of markings is
intended should be added to the stand identifcation.

5.2.13.6 Recommendation.- Lead-in, turning and leadout
lines should normally be continuous in length and have a
width of not less than I5 cm. Where one or more sets ofstand
markings are superimposed on a stand marking, the lines
should be continuous for the most demanding aircrafi and
broken for other aircrafi.
5.2.13.7 Recommendation.- The curved portions of
lead-in, turning and lead-out lines should have radii appropriate
to the most demanding aircrafi type for which the
markings are intended.

5.2.13.8 Recommendation.- Where it is intended that
an aircraft proceed in one direction only, arrows pointing in
the direction to be followed should be added as part of the
