 A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
 (1) In the cockpit, on the center pedestal, make sure that the free-fall control handle is in the normal position.
 (2) On the nose gear leg, on the electrical box, make sure that the towing lever is in the TOWING position.
 (3) Make sure that the container is in position below the cylinder.
 (4) Make sure that the Green hydraulic system is depressurized (Ref. TASK 29-10-00-864-001).

 A. Preparation for Installation
 (1) Make sure that the parts retained from the removed component are clean and in the correct condition.
 NOTE : Lubricate the seals with hydraulic fluid.

 Put a new seal (7) with its backuprings on the piston (3). The rounded edge of the backuprings must be against the sides of the seal (7).

 (3)
 Clean the attachment hardware with CLEANING AGENTS (Material No. 11-004A) and dry with filtered compressed air.

 (4) Apply a light coat of SPECIAL MATERIALS (Material No. 05-047) to the

 threads of all the screws. Subtask 32-51-42-420-053
 B. Installation of the Steering Cylinder
 (1)
 Apply hydraulic fluid the cylinder (1).

 (2)
 Apply SPECIAL MATERIALS (Material No. 05-047) to the outer mating diameter and to the contact faces of the cylinder (1).

 (3)
 Put the cylinder (1) in position. NOTE : Before the installation of the rear cylinder, fully turn the

____ wheels of the NLG manually to the right.

 (4)
 Install the split washer (4).

 (5)
 Install the nine screws (6) and the nine lockwashers (5).

 (6)
 TORQUE the screws (6) to between 3 and 3.4 m.daN (22.12 and 25.07 lbf.ft) and safety them with corrosion resistant steel lockwire 0.8 mm (0.03 in.) dia..

 (7)
 Remove the blanking plugs from the line end.

 (8)
 Connect the hydraulic couplings (2).

 (9)
 TORQUE the hydraulic couplings (2) to between 2.42 and 3.16 m.daN

 (17.84 and 23.30 lbf.ft).
 (10)
 Apply SEALANTS (Material No. 09-002) to the mating faces and to the heads of the bolts (6).

 (11)
 Release the disconnected electrical bundle from the leg.

 (12)
 Remove the blanking caps from the electrical connectors.

 (13)
 Connect the electrical connector (9) to the proximity-sensor (10).

 C. Remove the safety clip(s) and the tag(s) and close this(these) circuit breaker(s):
