3. System Description
__________________ (Ref. Fig. 001) The passenger oxygen is kept in composite cylinders. The cylinders are installed between FR62 and FR64, behind the sidewall linings RH in the AFT cargo compartment. You can fill the system through the fill port 7520WR. The fill port 7520WR is installed on the oxygen fill panel on the AFT RH of the bulk cargo compartment. The thermal compensators 7621WR thru 7626WR are installed in the fill lines immediatly before the pressure reducers. They prevent dangerous increases of temperature when you fill the system. The unwanted oxygen is released overboard through the overboard discharge indicator 7521WR if the oxygen pressure:

In the oxygen cylinder assemblies or
-
In the low pressure part of the pressure reducers is too high.

A. Storage Cylinders 991WR1 thru 991WR6

The passenger-oxygen storage cylinders are made of composite material. They each have a capacity of 116.9 ft.3 (3.31 m3) Normal Temperature Pressure Dry (NTPD) at a pressure of 1850 psi (127.5530 bar). The capacity of each cylinder that can be used by the cabin attendants and passengers is 105 ft.3 (2.97 m3) NTPD.

The storage cylinders with the pressure reducers are connected together in parallel (Ref. 35-23-00).

The cylinder head valve has:
-An inlet/outlet valve
-
A slow-opening shutoff valve with a metal seat and poppet. The shutoff valve is used to isolate the oxygen in the cylinder from the oxygen system

A pressure gage which shows the correct cylinder pressure if the shutoff valve is open or closed
-
A high-pressure safety outlet to the overboard discharge line.
B. Fill Lines
The fill lines are made of corrosion-resistant steel. They connect the fill port to the cylinder assemblies.
C. Thermal Compensators 7621WR thru 7626WR

The thermal compensators prevent dangerous increases of temperature when
you fill the cylinders. They are installed in the fill lines immediately
in front of the pressure reducers. They have:
-A tube
-An internal part with a large surface area and a high thermal inertia
D. Filling Port 7520WR
(Ref. Fig. 004)
The filling port lets you fill the oxygen cylinder assemblies from an
external oxygen source. The filling port has:
-
A flow restrictor to make sure that the pressure increases safely when only one cylinder is filled
-
A filter to prevent contamination of the system
-An external cap with a safety chain.

E. Overboard Discharge Indicator 7521WR
