 (7)  Remove the 1103 forward access door (Ref 12-31-11/201).
 F. Roll Force Transducer Adjustment (Fig. 501)

 (1)  Remove the adjustable end of the transducer:
 (a)  
Disconnect the transducer cable connectors.

 (b)  
Put the shims between the shaft and the drum. The clearance must be 0.020 (+0.003/-0.0).

 (c)  
Remove the bolt, washer, and nut from the adjustable end of the force transducer.

 (2)  Install the test set:
 (a)  
Connect the force transducer to the captain's connector with the adapter cable.

 CAUTION:_______USE ONLY 115 VOLTS AT 400 HZ AC. OTHER HIGHER VOLTAGE AT DIFFERENT FREQUENCY CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE TRANSDUCER.

 (b)  
Supply electrical power to the test set.

 NOTE: Permit 15 minutes for the transducer to become warm and
____
 stable.

 (3)  
Put the system A - system B switch in the system A position.

Put the select switch of the test set to the CAPT position.

 (5)  
Find the null voltage for the captain's transducer:

 (a)  Measure and write down the output voltage at the stable conditions.
 NOTE: The null voltage must be less than |80 mv.

 (b)  Slightly loosen the clamps of the electrical cable to get the voltage down below |80 mv, if it is necessary. Tighten the clamps.

 (c)  
Make sure that there are some threads shown on the fine and coarse adjustments.

 (d)  
If you measured the voltages on the force transducer before the installation, make sure that you get the same voltages.

 (e)  
If you measured the dc analog voltage on the FCC test connector (J7-11), make sure that you get the same voltage.

Put the system A - system B switch in the system B position.

Put the select switch of the test set to the F/O position.

Find the null voltage again for the first officer's transducer.

Put the system A - system B to the system A position.

 (10)
 Install the adjustable end of the force transducer:

 (a)  
Remove the lockwire from the locknuts, fine adjustment nut, and the washer tab.

 (b)  
Loosen the locknuts and do the coarse adjustment until you can install the bolt, washer and nut.

 NOTE: The coarse adjustment is approximately 0.016 inch for
____ each turn. The fine adjustment is approximately 0.006 for each turn.
 (c)  
Measure the null voltage after the installation:

 1)  Turn the fine adjustment nut until you get the voltage as measured before the installation |10 mv for each position of the system A - system B switch.

 (d)  
Tighten the locknut on the adjustable sleeve (Push the washer against the end cap of the transducer).

 (e)  
Tighten the locknut on the rod end.

 (f)  
Install the lockwire.

 (g)  
Remove the shims.
