 b) Put the flat washer adjacent to the nut. 5) Loosely install the other bolts through the skin into the nutplates on the hinge. 6) Tighten all the bolts.

Adjust the door.

 (a)  
Close but do not latch the door.

 (b)  
Use the spring scale to close the latches.

 (c)  
Make sure the latches close with a force of 5 to 10 pounds.

 1)  Change the shims below the latch if it is necessary to get the correct force (Section A-A).

Examine the clearances around the door.

 (a)  
Make sure the clearance at the forward and the right edge of the door is from 0.04 to 0.12 inch.

 (b)  
Make sure the clearance at the aft edge of the door is from

 0.04 to 0.16 inch.
 (c)  
Remove material from the edge of the door if it is necessary to get the correct dimension.

 (d)  
If you remove material, paint the area with Alodine
 (Ref 51-21-04/701).

 (4)  
Open and close the door to make sure it operates correctly.

The installation of the access door for the stabilizer jackscrew.

Open the door.

Remove the door.

 (a)  
Disconnect the stay brace at the door. 1) Pull the cotter pin from the pin in the stay brace. 2) Pull the pin out of the clevis. 3) Make a note of the radial location of the clevis.

 NOTE: This makes the subsequent installation easier.

Remove the hinge pin bolts (Detail C).

 (c)  
Identify the location of the radius fillers with tags.

 NOTE: It is necessary to know the correct location of
____ the fillers during the subsequent installation.
