any period in excess of 30 minutes that the pressure in
compartmcnts occupied by them will be between
700 hPa and 620 hPa:
b) the crew and passengers for any period that rhc
atmospheric pressure in compartments occupied by
them will be less than 620 hPa.
2.9.2 A flight to be operated with a pressurized helicopter
shall not bc commenced unless a sufficient quantity of stored
breathing oxygen is carried to supply all the crew members
and a proportion of the passengers, as is appropriate to the
circumstances of the flight being undertaken, in the event of
loss of pressurization, for any period that the atmospheric
pressure in any compartment occupied by them would be less
than 700 hPa.
2.10 Use of oxygen
a) will not bc. commenced if any ilight crew member is
incapacitated from performing duties by any cause such
as injury, sickness, fatigue, the effccls of alcohol or
drugs: and
b) will not be continued beyond the nearest suitable
heliport when flight crew members' capacity to perfom
functions is significantly reduced by impairment of
faculties from causes such as fatigue, sickness, lack of
oxygen.
2.15 Flight crew members
at duty stations
2.15.1 Take-off and landing
All flight crew members required to be on tlight deck duty
shall be at their stations.
All fligh~c rew members. when engaged in performing duties
essential to Lhe safe operation of a heIicopter in flight, shall
use breathing oxygen continuously whenever the cjrcurn- 2.15.2 En route
stances prevail for which its supply has been required in 2.9.1
or 2.9.2. All fllght crew members required to be on flight deck duty
shall remain at their stations except when their absence is
necessary for the performance of duties in connection with the
operation of the helicopter, or for physiological needs.
2.11 In-flight emergency instruction
In an emergency during tlight, the pilot-in-command shall 2.15.3 Seat belts
ensure that all persons on board are instructed in such
emergency action as may be appropriate to the circumstances. All flight crew members shall keep their seat belt fastened
when at their stations.
2.12 Weather reporting by pilots
Recommendation.- When weather conditions likely to
afect the safe3 of other aircrafr are encountered, rhey should
be reported as soon as possible.
2.13 Hazardous flight conditions
Recommendation.- Hazardo~is flight conditions, other
than those associated ~ : i t h meteorological conditions,
errcountel-td en. route should be reported us soon as possible.
The reports so rendered should give such derails us may be
pertinent to the safe9 of other aircraft.
2.15.4 Safety harness
Recommendation.- When safety harnesses are provided,
any flight crew ntember occiipying a pilot's seat shorrld keep
thc sufety harness fastened during the take-of arid landing
plzases; all other flight crew members should keep their sufety
harness fustenecl during the take-off und landing phases linlcss
the shou2der straps interfere with the perfonnarzce of their
duties, in which case the shoulder straps rnay be u*Zfastened
but the seat belt must remain fastened.
Note.- Safeiy harn.ess includes shoulder strap(s) and n
seat belt which may be used independently.
2.16 Instrument tlight procedures
2.14 Fitness of flight crew members
2.16.1 One or more instrument approach procedures shall

2.16.2 All helicopters operated in accordance with
instrument flight rules shall comply with the instrument

heliport is located, or by the State which is responsible for the
heliport when located outside the territory of any Slate.
Note 1.- Operational procedures recommended for the
guidunce of operations personnel involved in instrument.flight
operations are described in PANS-OPS (Doc 8/68), Volume f.
disembarking or when the rotor is turning unless it is attended
by the pilot-irz-conrt?zand or ot/zcr q~talcfiedp ersonnel ready 10
initiate and direct an evacuation of the helicopter by the most
practical and expeditioins means available.
2.18.2 Recommendation.- When refuelling with
passengers embarking, on board or disembarking, two-way
