 The general architecture is as follows:
 .two CPU boards structured around INTEL microprocessors 80186 and
 80C31,
 .two standard memory modules each connected to a CPU board,
 .two discrete/synchro acquisition boards,
 .two ARINC bus acquisition boards,
 .one AUDIO and SYNTHETIC VOICE output board,
 .one discrete output board comprising the MAIL BOX RAM used for
 dialog between the two CPU boards,
 .the power supply unit.

 C. Mechanical Structure
 All the digital boards are organized around a standardized system bus: the Flying Computer System Bus (SCSB). The dialog between the various FWC cards is accomplished through a data BUS.

 (2) Functional Description The two FWCs are identical and fully interchangeable. The FWC comprises:
 -an acquisition stage (including output data buses) similar to SDAC
 -a warning computation stage (including warning processing stage and
 other outputs). The two FWCs acquire all data necessary for generation of alert messages associated to relevant A/C system failures:
 -directly from the A/C sensors or systems for warnings, (mainly identified by red color),
 -through the SDACs for cautions from the A/C systems, (mainly
 identified by amber color). Since high dispatch reliability objectives are to be reached, all the acquisitions are duplicated. Furthermore, each FWC will acquire data on the opposite FWC bus when its onside acquisition is not valid. The FWCs generate alpha numeric codes corresponding to all texts/ messages to be displayed on ECAM DUs:
 -titles of the A/C system failures,
 -procedures associated to failures,
 -STATUS functions (giving the operational status of the aircraft and postponable procedures),
 -MEMO function (giving a reminder of functions/systems which are
 temporarily used or items of normal check list). These codes are series of ASCII codes, for the alpha-numeric characters, and specific codes stating the attributes to be associated to those strings of characters (size, color, flashing or steady ,etc...). In addition, the FWCs send control codes, which give instructions to the DMCs (for example, on which page such message is to be written,..., which A/C system page is to be displayed on the lower ECAM DU,...). All the above codes are sent to the DMCs through dedicated RS422 data links, each consisting physically of a twisted shielded pair of wires. The transmission rate equals 19200 bauds. On the other hand, each FWC sends through an ARINC 429 output bus the recopy of its acquisitions which would be needed by either the DMCs or the DFDR. Each data is accompanied by a validity code. The FWCs also generates the aural alerts, as well as synthetic voice messages for radio-height automatic call-out.
 All these sounds are generated by software.

 -auto call out (synthetic voice announcing : two thousand five hundred (or twenty five hundred according to pin programming on FWC), two thousand, one thousand, five hundred, four hundred, three hundred, ..., hundred above, ..., minimum, ..., sixty, fifty, ..., down to the ground).
 Note that the 2 FWCs are synchronized for the audio outputs, and each
 of them is connected to the two loudspeakers.

 An audio mixing box mix the windshear radar synthetic voice with the
 CVR test (on the ground) or the TCAS voice (if installed). The
 purpose of the audio mixing box is to sum low-frequency audio signals
 after level and independance matching.
