Put the spring tang through the small hole in the door lug.

Put the end of the sring support rod through the large hole in the door lug.

 (d)  
Turn the spring approximately 360° and hold it in that position.

 (e)  
Put the free end of the spring support rod in the slot on the other door lug.

 (f)  
Put the free end of the spring against the edge of the relief valve door.

 (g)  
Put the spring support retainer in its position and install the fasteners.

Examine the condition of the seal in the frame and replace it if it is damaged.

Install the relief valve door to the frame:

 (a)  
Put the relief valve door in the frame.

 (b)  
Put the free end of the spring through the frame anchor hole.

Apply the grease to the valve hinge bolts.

Install the valve hinge bolts.

Remove the unwanted grease if it is necessary.

 C. Procedure

 (1)  Put the spring scale against the outer surface of the relief valve door as shown in Fig. 401 (Detail A-A).
 NOTE: The spring scale must be 2.92 (|0.20) inches from the bottom
____ of the relief valve door. Make sure the spring scale makes a 90° angle with outer surface of the relief valve door.

 (2)  
Push the spring scale against the relief valve door while you measure the force to open the door.

 (3)  
Make sure the force to open the relief valve door is 4 to 8 pounds.

 (4)  S 714-023Continue to measure the force to push the door to the full open position.
 (5)  S 714-024Make sure the door moves smoothly to the full open position.
 (6)  S 714-025Make sure the force to hold the door in the open position is 8 to 10.5 pounds.
 NOTE:____ The door will be at an 80° angle in the full open position.
 (7)  S 714-026Move the relief valve door to the full closed position.
