(4) Remove the cooling air crossover duct.
(a)
Remove the forward clamp from the cooler.
(b)
Remove the aft clamp from the cooler.
(c)
Remove the clamp from the cooling air crossover duct installed at the aft left end of the duct.
(d)
Remove the fire detection loop.
NOTE: The removal of the fire detection loop is necessary to
____ prevent damage to the loop.
1) Disconnect the fire loop electrical connector from the left forward side of the APU top shroud. 2) Remove the fire loop mounting bracket from the cooling air crossover duct. 3) Remove the fire detection loop from the lower side of the APU.
(e) Remove the bolt from the forward end of the generator on the cooling air crossover duct.

CAUTION: MAKE SURE YOU USE SUFFICIENT SUPPORT WHEN YOU MOVE THE COOLER.
_______ DAMAGE TO THE COOLER CAN OCCUR.
(5) Move the cooling air crossover duct forward.
(a) Move the cooler free from the aft support bracket. 1) Move the cooler down and aft.
NOTE: This is to supply a work space.

(6) Remove the fuel line (1/4 inch).
NOTE: The fuel line is found below the generator on the left side.

Disconnect the electrical connector on the APU tach generator.

Remove the APU generator.
(a) Make an index mark on the APU to the generator mounting flange with an adjacent generator mounting stud hole.
NOTE: This is to give the correct clock position of the
____ generator when you install the generator.
(b) Loosen the generator mounting nuts around the generator flange (12 places).
NOTE: The mounting holes on the generator have slots to permit
____ the generator removal with the nuts on the studs.
1) Loosen the nuts 1/2 inches off the studs.
NOTE: This is to permit the generator frame to turn.
____
WARNING:_______BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU MOVE THE APU GENERATOR. BECAUSE THE APU WEIGHS 90 POUNDS, INJURY TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO THE GENERATOR CAN OCCUR.
(c)
Hold the generator.
WARNING:_______USE SUFFICIENT SUPPORT WHEN YOU REMOVE THE APU. IF YOU DO NOT USE SUFFICIENT SUPPORT, INJURY TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO THE COMPONENTS THAT ARE ON THE APU CAN OCCUR.
(d)
Remove the APU ac generator. 1) Turn the generator frame until the stud nuts align with the flange openings. 2) Move the generator away from the APU until the studs and the generator drive spline are clear. 3) Put the generator at an angle until the forward end is lower than the aft end.
4) Lower the generator until the generator is free from the APU.
