CAUTION: DO NOT USE THE CSD INPUT SHAFT TO HOLD THE WEIGHT OF THE
_______ CSD DURING INSTALLATION. FAILURE TO HOLD THE CSD CORRECTLY CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE CSD.
(b)
Use the cradle adapter to hold the CSD.
(c)
Make sure that the alignment pin aligns with the hole in the adapter plate of the QAD ring.
CAUTION:_______MAKE SURE THAT YOU INSTALL THE CSD CORRECTLY. IF YOU INSTALL THE CSD INCORRECTLY, YOU CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE QAD RING AND THE CSD.
(d)
Install the CSD input end in the QAD ring assembly.
(e)
Align the lugs on the CSD input flange with the openings in the QAD ring.
NOTE: All of the lugs on the CSD input flange must engage
____ in the QAD ring. The CSD must be square to the adapter plate.
(f)
Turn the QAD ring until the lugs are correctly engaged.
(g)
Lubricate the threads of the tension bolt for the QAD ring with oil.
(h)
Install the tension bolt in the swivel nut on the QAD ring.
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT THE QAD RING DOES NOT CATCH WHILE YOU
_______ TIGHTEN THE TENSION BOLT. THIS CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE QAD RING.
(i)
Tighten the tension bolt on the QAD ring to 90 to 100 pound-inches.
(j)
Use the adapter to lift the forward end of the CSD and generator.
NOTE: This will decrease the torque moment caused by the
____ over-hung weight of the CSD and the generator.
(k)
Tighten the tension bolt to a torque of 90 to 100 pound-inches.
(l)
Use a soft mallet to lightly hit the QAD ring on the outer flange.
NOTE: When you lightly hit the QAD ring, you help to
____
prevent incorrect torque indications.

(m) Examine the torque value of the tension bolt on the QAD ring.
1) If the torque is less than 90 to 100 pound-inches, tighten
the tension bolt to 90 to 100 pound-inches.
2) Continue to lightly hit the QAD ring and tighten the
tension bolt until the torque value stays between 90 and
100 pound-inches.
(n) Make sure that you have a minimum of 3/16 of an inch between
the tension bolt bracket and the nut on the QAD ring
(Fig. 403).
NOTE: If the QAD ring has less than 3/16 of an inch between____
the bracket and nut, either the CSD mounting lugs or the
QAD ring are worn beyond acceptable limits.
1) If there is less than 3/16 of an inch, replace the CSD.
2) If there is still less than 3/16 of an inch, replace the
QAD ring.
(o) Loosen the tension bolt until the head of the tension bolt does
not touch the bracket.
1) Make sure that the QAD ring does not move while you loosen
the tension bolt.
(p) Tighten the tension bolt until the head of the tension bolt
touches the bracket.
(q) Turn the tension bolt one half of a turn more.
(r) Install a lockwire on the tension bolt (Fig. 403):
1) Use the double twist method.
2) Start the lockwire on the shank of the tension bolt.
3) Stop with the lockwire ends on the head of the tension
bolt.
(s) Remove the cradle adapter assembly.

(2) Connect the main electrical connector to the CSD.
