F.  Install the RDS Housings (Fig. 402)

 (1)  Do these steps to install the RDS housings:
 (a)  If you have removed the inner housing and the outer housing from the fan frame, do the steps that follow:
 NOTE: The guide puller will be used to install the inner
____
 and outer housings.

 WARNING: DO NOT USE CLEANING SOLVENTS NEAR OPEN FLAMES, AREAS
_______ WHERE SPARKS CAN OCCUR, OR WHERE THERE IS INADEQUATE VENTILATION. CLEANING SOLVENTS ARE FLAMMABLE, VOLATILE, AND POISONOUS.
 1)  Clean all the engine oil from the inner surface of the bore diameter (fan frame strut number 10) with a lint-free cloth that is wet with acetone.
 2)  Put a light layer of engine oil on the two new O-rings for
 the outer housing. 3) Install the O-rings on the outer housing. 4) Install the outer housing on the guide puller.
 a) Center the outer housing on the pins of the tool. 5) Install the inner housing on the outer housing. a) Align the slots and grooves of the inner housing with the six holes in the outer housing.

b)  Align the flats on the inner end of the inner housing with the longer side of the rectangle that is made by the attachment holes of the outer housing.
 NOTE: The attachment holes of the outer housing
____ make the shape of rectangle with the longer sides of the rectangle being verticle. The flats of the inner housing must be parallel with the verticle sides of the rectangle.
 6)  Put the inner and outer housings into the fan frame and
 make sure the alignment is correct.

 CAUTION: YOU MUST REMOVE ALL THE ENGINE OIL FROM THE BORE
_______ DIAMETER OF THE FAN FRAME STRUT BEFORE YOU APPLY THE PRIMER OR THE PRIMER WILL NOT BOND CORRECTLY.
 7)  Apply loctite activator 747T on the forward face and mating surfaces of the inner housing for 1.77 inches (45.00 mm).
 NOTE: Let the forward face and the mating surface of
____ the inner housing interfaces with the bore diameter of the fan frame strut number ten.
 NOTE: Let the loctite activator 747T become dry
____
 (approximately 5 minutes).

 8)  Apply loctite activator 747T in the bore diameter of the
 fan frame strut.

 NOTE: Let the loctite activator 747T become dry
____
 (approximately 6 minutes).

 CAUTION: DO NOT OPERATE THE ENGINE FOR THREE HOURS AFTER YOU
_______ HAVE APPLIED THE ADHESIVE LOCTITE 222. IT IS NECESSARY TO HAVE THREE HOURS OF CURE TIME AT AMBIENT TEMPERATURE FOR ADHESIVE LOCTITE 222.
 9)  Apply a layer of adhesive Loctite 222 on the forward face and mating surfaces of the inner housing for 1.77 inches
 (45.00 mm). 10) Put a light layer of engine oil on the inner housing O-ring. 11) Install one new O-ring in the outer diameter groove of the
 inner housing.
 12) Install the inner and outer housings in the fan frame.
 13) Remove the guide puller.

 (b)  If you did not remove the inner housing, do the steps that follow: 1) Put a light layer of engine oil on the two new O-rings.

2) Install the two new O-rings in the outer diameter grooves near the end of the outer housing. 3) Install the outer housing in the fan frame.
 (c)  Install the four bolts that attach the outer housing.
 1)  Tighten the bolts to 145-160 pound-inches (16-18 newton meters).
 G.  Install the RDS (Fig. 401)
